Bernadetta flinched. She knew she was staring, she knew her jaw had dropped, but she couldn’t stop herself as she listened to his quick description of what they went through - he broke his own thumb, why? What had happened.
Bernadetta took a slow breath, forcing herself to stay calm. “Um...no, I don’t think they found any of them. I didn’t get my bow back either.” She mumbled sadly. She wished they had, if only for the familiarity of the weapon in hand.
They didn’t, and for now, Bernadetta was just going to have to find comfort without that.
“I’m, uh. I’m sorry that you had to go through all of that. But I’m glad you didn’t die!” She was, genuinely. Bernadetta might not know him well, but she didn’t want to hear about any of their group dying. She still wasn’t sure what had happened with that other man, but everyone who had gone to the other cell seemed nervous about him. She wasn’t sure why.
“We, um. He put us in this weird cell that we couldn’t break. Nothing happened but he kept...looking at us. L-Lorenz set himself on fire trying to burn his handcuffs, and then Azura sang at one point and the enemies got weird...after that, he released this weird mist, and I...um...I fainted.” She shifted awkwardly. “When I woke up, we were running away.”
