Victoria normally liked to spend her time off from set hiking the many quiet places she group up loving in Iceland. However, when she was given the opportunity to attend a fundraiser for a children’s hospital that was seeking out financial support for children who would need a service dog upon release she jumped at the opportunity. Her parent’s asked her to go represent their small company as both a famous face and to help them make sure the private American hospital was legitimate. The event was pleasantly relaxed, though she knew Los Angeles well enough to know that it had a way of giving of that vibe.
Donning a white cocktail dress, Victoria moved through the crowd of adults with rosé in hand. She gave her spiel and shared videos of the dogs training or talked about her current work, but always turned the conversation back on them, their interests, and goals. People, she’d learned, mostly liked talking about themselves at these events. She’d lost some track of time, recalling her parents asking her to meet the kids and decided to slip off before the event ended. Besides, the heels she’d chosen for the early-evening event were undoubtedly a mistake and as doctors and prospective patrons schmoozed, Victoria slipped down the hall to the sound of laughing children, having a party of their own.
Most were early teenagers, dancing to upbeat TikTok songs. She watched with a smile, from the door while kicking her heels off. She knew the array of medical issues before coming because her parents had talked to her about what each of their potential dogs were being trained for and some of the children were easier for her to know which pup belonged to which teenager. Lost in thought, a smile painted on her face, she quickly found herself caught.
The man that had turned up at her side had a half a foot on her at least. Tilting her head up she put a finger to her painted lips. For a moment, she went back to watching these kids recording their rehearsed dance, but she couldn’t help herself, she looked up at him again. From the scruff to the full head of dark hair, she wondered if she knew him, it was LA and he had the face for Hollywood. Before she could dive too deep into being a creeper they were found out and two of the younger kids pulled her in. “Well, don’t leave me alone in here with no one to dance with!” Laughing she reached out and took the strangers hand, pulling him in with her.
