“stop asking questions. i promise you’re going to love it.” benji reassured. he was admittedly pretty nervous but doing this was something he’d been thinking about for a while. ruby was a huge part of his life and he could see himself spending the rest of his life with her. “alright, there’s a drop. be careful.” the last thing he wanted was to ruin things and let her fall while she was blind folded. his hand held onto hers, squeezing reassuringly. “have i ever told you how much i love you?” he added, his thumb rubbing over the back of her skin.

standing in front of ruby, he glanced down at his outfit. “you know,” benji started with a light laugh, “i thought i was going to look less like a stoner and more like waldo. i don’t think i’m cut out to throw together last minute halloween costumes. i think i have an old deadpool costume in my closet but it’s a little...tight around the crotch.” he put his hands on his waist as he looked back up at her, “your costume, well, i honestly don’t think you could look any better than you do in this moment baby. think you can help me too?”

“-no, no! wait! i have an even better joke. ready?” the dark haired male asked in between his laughter. his stomach and cheeks both ached from the amount of smiling and laughing he’d been doing since he got here. “alright,” he took in a deep breath, leaning against the counter as he attempted to catch his breath, “why did cinderella get thrown off the basketball team?” he asked, his eyes glued to other the see if she could come up with the answer, “because she ran away from the ball.” he finally answered. really, the joke wasn’t that funny but he couldn’t stop himself from laughing after the couple of beers he’d already consumed. plus, her laughter was pretty much contagious and this was the most fun he’d had in a long time.
