as disappointed as drake was the last time that the two of them saw each other, he decided to give this all another go. after all, he did really enjoy mark's company and he didn't want to give this up already. so, he gave in to meeting up with him again. taking a deep breath as he approached him in front of their chosen destination, he followed it with a smile. "hey," he started, "do you...want to make grab some ice cream and then go for a walk? the weather's nice enough, don't you think?"

drake wasn’t good at this kind of stuff but he figured he should at least try and maybe they weren’t together yet but the fact that she loved him and wanted to be with him was enough. he didn’t pay as much as he had been on his debt but only because he knew hazeema’s birthday was coming up and he wanted to do something for her. of course, he still didn’t have that much to spend but his mom always said it was the thought that counts. he had attempted to make them dinner before he came over and the longer he held the container of food he made, the more he wanted to hide it before she could see it because they both knew he couldn’t cook and that meant he definitely couldn’t cook vegan food. he knocked on her door and shook his head at himself, the flowers on top of the food he’d made and a card tucked in between them. he wanted her to know he didn’t forget and he wanted her to know what he was putting work into whatever this was. he smiled as she opened the door, “happy birthday, cookie.” he breathed out as he leaned in and placed a kiss on her lips without a second thought.

despite having known them in high school, he wasn't the same guy that he was back then and he'd like the other to know that he was more of a gentleman now. drake didn't have that same reputation. so, as he parked outside of their place, he couldn't help but flash the other a smile. he climbed out of the car and opened the door for them, his hand holding out for them to take. "i had a really good time," he started, his hand squeezing his date's, "do you think that we could do this again some time?" he asked, leading in the direction of their front door.

“aye, you here for class or are you here to watch?” drake questioned the new face as they walked into the rec center. he pulled off his boxing gloves and tucked them under his arms. he liked teaching the boxing class when he could. it helped the neighborhood kids learn how to defend themselves and anyone else who wanted to learn. plus, it was an income and he was steadily trying to move out of his mom’s house. “either way, i’m drake. i teach the class.”

drake couldn’t remember the last time he was this nervous but god, he had to do this. he had to tell her how he felt before it was too late. he had to tell hazeema that he was head over heels for her. he wasn’t even sure how he’d start it or how he’d tell her at all. his brother was right though - he was out here taking risks out on the street every day but when it came to his happiness, he couldn’t do it. he always backed out. he wasn’t going to do that this time though. drake made his way up to her apartment, his stomach growling at the smell of the bakery on the way up but he couldn’t eat when his stomach was flipping the way it was. god, what if she rejected him? that’s all he could think about and he hoped to god she wouldn’t but who knew? maybe it was already too late. he knocked on her door, his bottom lip tucked nervously before his teeth as he waited to come face to face with hazeema - the girl he’d fallen in love with.
