@cinnamonfm when: thanksgiving dinner where: the restroom just outside the commons
The fluff of her sweater itched her neck, and Rhia pulled at her collar as if it would make this night less suffocating for her. This was the first time her parents were paying a visit to the campus, and despite it being at her behest she worried what their presence might bring to light for her peers. She liked it better when her mother wanted nothing to do with her, now she watched helplessly as she played the role of the doting matriarch. It made her stomach twist into knots, watching as her mother brought forth tales and lies about their closeness with ease. Only an hour had passed before Rhia broke off from them, muttering excuses about touching up in the restroom.
She watched herself pout in the mirror, trying to come up with any reason to conclude the night early. Before Acacia had the chance to humiliate her. Rhia heaved a big sigh, touching up the wing of her eyeliner to distract from her growing anxiety. The longer they were out of their sight, the more opportunity they had to snoop in her life. She hadn't noticed when Heni slipped beside her, though it was a given she'd run into somebody she knew while hiding away in the restroom. She wondered if the brunette was having just as hard a time as she was, but it was hard to tell given Rhia knew virtually nothing about her home life. "Weird seeing so many people packed in there," Rhia said politely. Though, the only notable difference about this family event was her own parents' attendance. "Your folks make it in?" she asked, curiosity getting the best of her.
