The alcohol was working its magic, turning her malice to playfulness and her reservations to wonder. She had given up courtesies early in the night, settling instead to engage in heated conversation with anyone who had the misfortune of looking her way. Acacia was nursing another glass of champagne, though she was making quick work of it and would soon need another. She headed to the bar preemptively, having lost sight of her daughter awhile ago. That squeamish girl had neglected to introduce her to her friends, and out of spite Acacia refused to ask. Her husband would be able to give an account of those close to Rhia, and seeing as she was intent on icing her out of her life, his recounting would have to do. Though she doubted his ability to hold onto the crucial information she'd noticed if it'd been her their daughter was parading around. Jealousy sent a pang of gut-wrenching anger through her body, and suddenly Acacia hated every passerby. She stumbled into a bar stool, leaning on the counter in an attempt to catch the bartender's attention. She barely gazed the face of her neighbor, though the flash of familiarity had her doing a doubletake. Her finger pointed at him accusingly, her blue eyes narrowed as she searched his expression. "I know your face," she declared haughtily. "What are you? An actor?" Acacia asked gruffly, though she hardly cared.
