The lessons closed for the day, Snowdrift began his walk home, the simple staff in hand. He passed a park on his way back, and seeing relatively little in the way of pedestrian traffic, began practicing his motions in a small open area where others would have to try and pass. The staff swung easily, whipping through the air to tap at low-hanging branches. Snow had fallen the night before and the boughs drooped into striking range. Snowdrift misjudged one such tap and provoked a cloud of white powder to coat him from head to tail.
Blinking once, Snowdrift caught the eye of a passing person and grunted. “Well…that didn’t turn out like I’d hoped…”
