Slade sighed as he took in the image of Star City, attempting to be a shining jewel in the middle of absolute chaos. He was hunched much like a costumed gargoyle on the ledge of a building, watching the city operate around him like he hadn’t even returned.
He preferred it that way.
He had heard rumours that many different heroes and villains from all walks of life had relocated to Star City for one reason or another—when that started to happen, Slade knew the jobs in his old stomping grounds would be plentiful. With the new mayoral elections, he hoped one candidate would crop up on his list. He always loved taking out political figures.
Tonight was a low level job; some scrap between rival gangs and Slade had been called in to clean up a little. His approach was always stealthy but the execution wasn’t—he wanted Star City to know he was back. As he stalked the men on his list, he quietly unsheathed his katanas, then stopped in his tracks when he saw the men weren’t just being preyed on by him.
Ravager. His little girl.
He went for the man on his left, both swords plunging through the man’s back and coming out either side as Slade lifted him effortlessly. Despite his age, he still had all the strength and stamina of a super-soldier under 30.
As he dropped the man, arterial blood spraying over the brick of the building and his costume, he turned to Rose, a smile hidden under his helmet.
“After all these years—still taking after your father.” He said as he slit the first man’s throat, “It’s good to see you.”
