rose dying and coming back to life via lazarus pit (which i KNOW wont happen but let me ramble) would be much more compelling imo than her losing eye to…adeline. of all people. lol.

addie going after rose to hurt slade after she lost her own son to him i can kind of gauge, but rose’s eye being shot out bc of her is a disservice to rose’s character. even if the lazarus pit/zombie rose thing seems out of bounds atp and even if it like….gives her something in common with jason todd (yeesh)…it would still be more compelling than this. rose coming back to life and being somewhat changed bc of death and losing complete faith in her father (FINALLY) gives her the opportunity to finally break away from him (just as a character) and finding her own identity outside of him. maybe she even leaves “ravager” behind !! give me back Willow from ds16 !! in any case i don’t want her to keep being used as a plot device is ds comics, i’m sorry, i’m tired

Priest didn’t do the best with Rose but at least it felt he was trying to do stuff FOR her but Fleecs doesn’t even try hiding the fact that he’s just using her as a prop 😭

ok obviously its still early days of this comic & you can call me biased all you want, i don’t care. i’ve already done the rant on why i hate the decision on rose losing her eye to adeline, but reflecting more now on slades internal dialogue frustrates me even more. talking about how he’s never felt pain such as that but… what happened to grant? what happened to joey? this whole mess just comes at the expense of every character imo.

i don’t mind adeline feeling free to ruin slade’s life and fuck shit up for him, but shooting rose point blank feels so ? to me. it feels a bit too late into the timeline to have addie randomly decide to try and kill her, especially considering in priest’s run they at least learnt to be civil/ignore each other. obviously they don’t like each other, addie moreso given rose is a living, breathing reminder of slade’s infidelity, but i still don’t think the reasoning or timing is strong enough for me.

rose and slade’s relationship is complicated in such a way that i struggle to see them having any heart-to-hearts ever, which is why that small moment in the diner was kind of eh to me with her explaining trying to sympathise with him. i still kinda liked it but honestly i’ve been grasping at straws to try and enjoy this comic so far because i love these characters so deeply and have for years.

i honestly feel NOTHING seeing that panel of slade cradling rose because it just feels wrong to me, i don’t like this decision and i struggle to even acknowledge it regardless of the issue not even being fully out yet. i crave explanations for these decisions, i’m just waiting for more issues to try and at least understand WHY. for now, i’m just tired.

Even if it's just for the eyepatch it isn't worth it. Rose's lost eye was a visual shorthand for the pain she endured erasing herself for her father's sake, and the lasting damage that time in her life did to her. What would be the symbolism of her lost eye on Prime Earth? "Divorce leads children to the worst places?"
