Getting to know Jaiden hadn't been as difficult as he'd thought it be, more than a bit surprised how easily he seemed to fit in with them. There was a temptation to have someone else handle things when his radio went off, at least until he recognized it was Kirby's voice on the other end. Having excused himself, he'd been more than a little thrown when Kirby explained the situation, almost going after them before opting to have Teddy settled first.

"Are you able to walk with me to the medical station?" he asked giving the other man a brief once over. Briefly he was reminded of Jay, she'd lost a full year, if Teddy didn't remember Kirby he was worried how much he'd forgotten. "Think you can handle some questions on the way there?"

"Look, I’m telling you quitting my job was the best decision I’ve ever made and I’m not saying you should do it- but.” James shrugged, handing the other a cup of coffee. “I mean, am I technically unemployed with no income and soon to be in a lot of debt because I’m making a rather bold business decision that could end up going horribly wrong, yes. But do I have to deal with my brother on a daily basis, no. So therefore I think I’m winning.”

Teddy made his way over to his office door at 10pm sharp after the knock. Already unlocked, he opened the door. 

“H—” Didi shoved him back into his apartment, clearly trying to knock him over, and she would have, except he caught himself against the shallow table set beside his client sofa, knocking over the lamp he had there. The fixture tumbled off the desk and onto the floor, the bulb breaking and sending the room into starker shadows, with now only the one floor lamp and dim “kitchenette” lights left to illuminate the space.

Sebastian looked...significantly more scuffed up than usual, the distinctive scrapes of a man who’d sailed off his motorcycle and was trying to hide it. 

There’s a two-second silence wherein Teddy looks him over, the pause stretching between them until the very end of it, when Teddy can all but feel that Bash is going to turn and walk away from him, back out into the night. 

“Come in,” he says. He doesn’t comment about the time. His porch light illuminates the scrapes starkly. They look a bit old, not completely fresh. Maybe a day old. 

He steps back into his office, where he also sleeps for...compulsive risk-taking behavior convenience. His glasses were still beside his bed, up the stairs.

As the phone line rang, Teddy brushed his fingers above his lip, smoothing his moustache down. 

“Hello,” he said lightly into the microphone of his earbuds after the line went live, “This is Dr. Murphy. I’m returning a call from Mr. Mendel asking to set up a consultation for a...Mr. Berkman?” 

He hadn’t given much thought to someone asking for an appraisal on behalf of another person — really, Teddy assumed this was a caretaker/patient-type of scenario, or maybe a partner/partner situation, given the different surnames listed in the brief, confident voicemail he was left late last night.

Music lazed from Teddy’s radio budged up against the wall of his approachable, modern apartment, dinky commercials and playful DJ ramblings completely lost to Teddy’s ear as Didi Despereaux kissed over his neck, leaving a trail of her pretty lipstick across a day’s worth of new, scratchy stubble.

“Lemme put my drink down,” he murmured, glasses askew as he could barely gather his thoughts, his tongue peeking out to brush up against his mustache. “We can— oh…”

It seemed Didi had no interest in relocating anything but her hand, passing hurriedly down Teddy’s belly the only forewarning he received before her palm smoothed over him between his legs, featherlight and tantalizing, tactically useless. His hips raised up mindlessly to meet her, craving that skill he knew she harbored without a hint of shyness.

Never before had Teddy’s clothes felt to him so thin.

Location: The Shard

Normally, he wouldn't have gone to a place like the Shard, but he found himself experiencing some curiosity. He was an adult now, he could find out how people acted in the city instead of hearing about it. The place was filled with people, most he suspected to be vampires. Those were the ones he was curious about.

One such vampire approached him, and perhaps it was Rei's fault for not feeling like prey when he was one here, but he turned down the vampire's advances immediately, not interested in whatever they wanted. They didn't take no for an answer, though, and he soon escalated, yelling at them to fuck off. What a scene he was causing. Luckily for him, the head of security wasn't too far away.
