[continued from here]
Not only was she stuck in a situation that she knew nothing about she was far from home, her friends were in possible danger she was here at his side. None of this could be easy for the small loremaster. She did not have to see first hand much of the things that went on as he protected her from that. She was not a part of the First Order, she did not have to take dictation from Snoke. In fact for reasons that Kylo himself did not examine, he cloaked her from the Supreme Leader to the best of his ability. She would be considered a weakness, something light in his darkness. He did what was necessary to be done and he did it well. He was mostly fearless.
He continued the sheltering, not to the level she found at home, but rather he extended his protection to her. Should someone want to cross him they might use her to do it. So he tended to keep close. Few were that foolish, still this was a huge Galaxy.
The two of them had traveled widely since they had met, following the trail of Helios. He was good at hiding. Still, Kylo was absolutely determined to not have those plans in anyone's hands but his own. He didn't need another Death Star out there. Starkiller base had been enough.
Still the man shared knowledge with her, the things he knew, the things he learned. He had gone as far as to offer to train her in blaster or a vibro blade, if she desired to learn. He worried from time to time he might not always be there to protect her.
What the man had said to her had earned him Ren's ire. He had only stepped away for a few moments to address the plump man who's only interested and indeed concerns were credits, and what he could haggle out of someone. The man that had moved had done so without his knowledge, good as he was he was not omnipotent.
She was terrible upset and Kylo felt it from her in waves. He had given her the cloth to dab her eyes. However, the hitch of her breath and the sobs fed the man anger and irritation. He could find the man, and he would once he was sure that Kell was safely in their rooms. Those than were staring at them found themselves, turned and regarded with the sharp eyes of a predator, one that would take any of them to task in a heartbeat, Kylo was a killer and those who thought it might be funny to cross him or laugh at her discomfort, might well find themselves dangled over the ports edge. He didn't have to touch them to make them do things. He focused his attention on them.
"There is nothing to see here." he addressed the crowd. Which was issued with a push of the force. Most of them repeated what he said and they drifted back to doing what ever it was they were doing before.
He took the offered silk cloth back and tucked it into his belt. Her hand on his arm was fine and his gloved hand came up to pat it lightly. "People can be cruel." he could be as well. Still he would not stand and laugh at someones upset. That just---it was that light again inside of him. The very light that Snoke felt could never be diminished in Ren. He was still more like his parents than he had ever wanted to admit to. "You'll be alright." he assured and when she drew her fingers away he put his arms gently around her shoulders his long cloak drifting around her lightly.
He moved with her towards where they were going. There was no harm in offering an added level of protection to her. His cloak bloated out much. "Yes, you will." he agreed when she confirmed his own words. He shook his head. "I wish I knew." he said "Once I meet with him I will be sure. I am very good at extracting information from people, who are otherwise deceptive." he explained to her in a soft voice. "Once we get to the room, I want you to freshen up, I won't meet with the contact until later, I will get our food, you can rest if you like." he paused and shook his head. "I am not trying to rule you--Kell--just protect you from the scum in this place."
