Gregory wasn’t a patient man so after not finding what he was looking for within the first five minutes of entering the shop he gave up and, instead, approached the only other person who looked like they could help him. “Hey, you work here?”

He caught the scent of something in the air and it piqued his interest but he couldn’t quite figure out what it was. He turned away from the woman, excusing himself in the process before wandering off to investigate.

“Good job.” Was that sarcasm in voice... yeah, that was sarcasm.

Gregory’s nose wrinkled when he pulled it away from the glass. He gave an agitated sigh and held the glass up between two fingers, holding it out towards the figure in his peripheral. They were the help, right? “When I ask for bourbon, I expect bourbon.”

The arcade was always loud, which was good for business—not the wholesome one, no. His other business, the one filled with darker dirtier deeds. Rule number one.. never let the two intertwine. Someone made him break that rule today. He stepped out of the back room, his usually cheerful and boyish smile taking much longer to work its way onto his face and even when it did, there was an edge to it. Still, he could fake courtesy.

“Can I help you with somethin’?”

Children shrieked, some growled and grumbled, others hollered with glee. A group darted past Gregory like leaves on a windy day and he swayed to let them pass. Snorting to himself, he pulled a rag out of his back pocket and started to wipe down abandoned machines. 

The pretty little blonde standing near one hadn’t gone unnoticed. He gave her a sidelong scrutinizing glance before motioning to the machine with his chin.

“You know that machine only works if you put quarters in it?”
