Gene squinted at the other man and twitched one antenna. No use in trying to hide his most distinguishing features. He wasn't particularly trying to. These woods have done well in isolating anyone. It spanned for miles, a maze Gene was sure only he navigated. The man in front of him prove that theory wrong. Who else than another killer to stalk Gene's own dinner?
And yet, the odd, familiar feeling of kinship crept over the bug. He did not recognize the other man, and frankly was quite pissed the human decided to delay dinner time. Gene's grip on his butcher's axe tightened as he instinctually outstretched his second pair of limbs to appear bigger in an act of intimidation.
And yet, the idea of turning the axe on the person in front of him felt sacrilegious. He snarled in annoyance, at both himself and Will, making sure to bare his sharp canines. His left arm shifted like water as a larger mantis-like arm took structure in place of a human limb. The tibia, adored with spikes on the underside, pointed towards Will.
If Gene couldn't kill bring himself to kill this man, he sure as hell would make him regret crossing his path.
"Look, buddy," Gene threatened, "let's not waste our time here. Consider your options."
Wildcard was supposed to meet David in about half an hour, just after sundown, at the docks. That was the hope anyways. The last three times she tried to meet up with the small-time arms dealer, he’d been tailed by some meddlesome detective, or a nosy investigative reporter. Today he got lucky enough to only get tailed by her.
David was waiting for her inside one of the containers, poking his head out occasionally like a big, yellow-eyed prairie dog. His shifting gaze and anxious nail-biting were enough to bring an impish grin to her face.
“Loosen up, David!” she said, dropping down in front of him from the top of the container. “All this stress can’t be good for your blood pressure, man.”
“For chrissakes!” he spat, jumping back and clutching at his chest. “Do you have to scare the bejesus out of me every time we meet? You’re gonna be the death of me.” The sly look on her face was unmistakable.
“I don’t have to, but it’s much more fun for me this way.” she chirped.
“Jeez, you really are your old man’s kid, aren’t you?” he said, a shudder rippling up his spine. Puffing out his cheeks with a long exhale, he turned back toward the inside of the crate and beckoned for her to follow. Stacked along the corrugated, steel walls, were dozens of large, wooden crates. Nothing too out of the ordinary there.
“So these were a little harder to get a hold of, but I pulled a few strings, called in a few favors, and got you the best stuff I could.” He explained, crossing his arms over his chest and pacing toward the back of the container. “You won't find any duds here.” Raising a brow and running her tongue over her teeth behind closed lips, she folded her arms as well.
“You sure about that?” David’s brow furrowed, eyes darting, his Adam's apple bobbed with a thick swallow.
“Well-- Yeah, I’m pretty sure.” he said, his voice contradicting him. “I mean…” Unable to help herself, Wildcard busted up into peals of laughter.
“Don’t worry.” she reassured him. “I already had my guys check out the shipment. They picked it up earlier and left you with all these empty crates. Man, I wish you could see the look on your face right now.”
“Y-You did?” he asked, a series of emotions flashing over his face. “When? Why didn’t you tell me? Why did you wanna meet me here anyways? Couldn’t you have met me someplace else?” She watched him go from being confused, angry and finally just disgruntled. It was definitely an inconvenience for anybody to come out to the docks, herself included. It wasn’t as if she made this request without reason though.
“Yeah we checked them out a few days ago.” she said, her earlier levity fading. “There definitely weren’t any duds. However, we did find something extra special with this batch of gear.”
“You did? What?” he asked tentatively.
In a flash of white and silver, she drew a revolver from the holster strapped to her thigh, and fixed it between his eyes. The poor sap had nowhere to go, and the second he so much as flinched, it was lights out. This was it for David Sampson.
“You’ve been getting sloppy Dave.” she accused. “We found trackers in the shipment, GCPD trackers, no doubt. Not to mention you can’t shake anybody worth a damn anymore. Business with you is just getting too risky for my liking.”
“Wait! Please don’t--!
“Ah-ah!” she chided, wagging the gun at him. “I’m not finished. I have some news for you.”
“C’mon let me just-- “David.” Her voice was cold and full of venom. His face drained of color, sweat beading on his forehead. A tearful look of resignation shone in his bulging, jaundiced eyes.

Alina picks up her pace as they turn the corner, the London winter cold didn’t bother her per se, but she would be excited to enter a warm building nevertheless. The real reason for her increased pace was her impatience, she was taking Lila to a secret place, well, not all that secret to most, but when she offered Lila a tour of the city, she knew it couldn’t be just any tour, and this was the highlight, if Lila didn’t like this place, or if she’d somehow found it already, she had nothing cool to show.
“Come on, this way.” she nodded to the right, the direction they needed to go. The streets on this side of town were closer together, winding, more poorly lit. Not necessarily the safest place for friends of royalty. They probably shouldn’t be here, and that made it all the more exciting.
Hircine’s eyes flicker upward from behind the skull he wore towards the new presence nearby, watching the other as he sharpens the point of the stick hes holding, the Daedra does not speak just at the moment, he simply observes the other. His actions pause when they get a little too close for his comfort. He decides now would be a good time to let them know he knew they were there. “Staring can be considered rude, you know.”
“Hey, Alex, could you do me a HUGE favour and explain to Jason what a shapeshifter is? He doesn’t really get it and it’s having a big impact on my ability to sleep at night.” Magnus was not going to explain to Alex exactly what Jason thought a shapeshifter was.
He’s been regularly visiting the convenience store for the past month, often coming after spending quite a lot of time at the Han River. A month ago, he got a call from his mother, updating him about life in Osaka and making sure he was eating well. Last he heard, the yakuza were still visiting his family, elevating from persuading them to persuade him to bribing them to persuade him—all because of his bloody powers.
So here he was, right at the beverages section of the convenience store.
As if on automatic, Yuta immediately reached for the cold bottle of soy milk. The cold from the refrigerator reminded the young Japanese of his inability to control his own powers, which led to him letting out a defeated sigh. As much as he hated having them, Yuta still wanted to learn how to control it. That, and his pet cat looked smug every time he loses grip over his power; frankly, he was sure his cat was also another powerful being who lived to annoy him. He doesn’t even know why he got a cat.
Setting down the bottle of soy milk, a samgak kimbap, and a can of tuna on the counter, Yuta was ready to get out of the place. Maybe find some peace and quiet that wasn’t too deafening.
The call came in late the night Joker was busted out of Arkham. A handful of his loyal crew were anxious to have their boss back and Uncle Vinnie had to pretend to be one of them. Steve had to be grateful she supposed. It was better to be there to greet him, than to have him show up at school to drag her back to... whatever he was up to next.
Perched precariously on the handrail of the catwalk, she looked down on the rest of the crew gathered in the warehouse. She assumed it was abandoned previously by the layer of dust that covered everything. Now it was full of life as her father introduced the newest sheep to his fold.
Harley Quinn. Apparently she had been the one to help him bust out of Arkham. She hadn’t had the chance to speak to her yet, but one thing was for certain: she hated her for it. It was likely that Miss Quinn would never know though. Steve was good at putting on a happy face around Joker, and she’d probably have to be on her best behavior around Harley too.
Decidedly bored of watching the adults mingle, she hiked her knees to her chest and planted her feet firmly on the handrail. It wasn’t likely she’d be getting back to gymnastics practice for a while, so she may as well make due with what she had. Teetering a little, she began to slowly make her way around the perimeter of the warehouse, her eyes on Harley the whole time.
