Emmon navigated all with a consummate dislike for interaction that Ursula could not help but applaud; he never struggled to produce a string of dry phrases, each ending with a resolute declaration he would rather be stationed in a quiet seat by the fire. Owing to Ursula's fierce insistence they converse, the pair stood near a large pillar, hidden from the fray; they were awarded with brilliant costumes twirling beneath candlelight, the young beholden to intrigues that Ursula could no longer understand. "I cannot recall the last time I saw you in such a crowded venue --- should I have someone appointed to catch you, should you faint over too much human interaction?" Ursula was all smiles as she spoke, indulging in a light, playful humour reserved for those whom knew her well; though Emmon would have surely taken death by dragon's fire, in lieu of standing beside her, she considered him chief company. "It is painful to admit, that I fear I have reached an age upon which scenes such as this offer me little --- save for arranging weddings, but I have begun to find my children too self-willed, to enjoy my meddling on the topic."
