Week 29: Three Evils (Embodied in Love and Shadow) by Coheed and Cambria
If you aren't familiar with the band Coheed and Cambria almost all of their songs fall into a story, so picking lyrics from those songs that do is always a bit weird. It's more than just plucking one relatable string of words from a song, it's plucking a string of words from a song and (usually) a very specific scene in a story that is generally pretty dramatic. I let the story make some of my choices here. This particular bit is about someone getting tortured by having their limbs cut off (I told you it was dramatic) and that's why I decided to do a clean cut through the word "broken" along the line where the letters split into their "limbs" instead of doing something that looked crumbled or shattered.
The colors I used are from the album cover that the song comes from and the idea was to evoke a kind of crime scene/caution tape visual. That was more a personal reference than a story one. Sometimes you see yourself doing something that is not going to be good for your mental health because you care so much for someone that you want to do everything you can to help them or make them see you. You can see the caution tape and you push it aside and keep going even when it gets exhausting or too much.
This went up early for my patrons! If you’re interested in seeing these pieces before the rest or want to see some behind the scenes shots and more into my mindset for the pieces check out the link in my linktree or search for TundraKatieBean on Patreon!
