Your my ask box is open link makes people write on their own feed in the app, so I have to ask this again. Let me see if I can remember... basically I just wanted three things about Lovers Leap because I am seriously behind with reading fics, but I will want to support them.
Thanks for letting me know about the link. Hopefully I've managed to fix it.
On to your ask - and thank you for it! Seriously, thank you! It means a lot that you've taken the time to reach out with an ask.
So, three things about Lover's Leap
Number One:
The origination and inspiration for this fic came out of the AUgust challenge, where basically there was a theme for writers to tackle a fic each day in August. They were supposed to be short fics, and as anyone that knows my writing will tall you, I don't do short all that well, so after a few fics, I fell woefully behind. Rather than give up however, I decided to continue and make it a series of 31 fics. The series is loosely based around the idea behind the TV show Quantum Leap, with Scott Bakula, where he gets jumped around time into other peoples bodies to help solve issues/problems with time that they are a part of. In the Rumbelle series, Rumple has fallen foul of a Fairy Curse (Blue enchanted a cup of wine), and is randomly thrown into the minds of others, and there is usually an issue to solve or something to learn. Belle voluntarily takes on the curse to be able to help him and get them both back to the dark castle if they should get stuck. The series of fics have been outlined, and I have stories coming up that are adaptations of Shakespeare, Book AUs, historical AUs, Movie AUs, and more.
Number Two:
My favorites... it's hard to pick favorites, but, of the ones I have written so far, I think I would have to say that We Never Stopped Being Enemies, Hatter and Flash In the Pan are my top three. One is SGA, a Michael/Teyla crossover. One is connected with - you could even say a teaser for - another of my fics, Modern Wonders, which is a Once/Alice (TV 2009) crossover, and the third is a fic revolving around a musicians descent into drug use and madness because of Pan's shadow from Neverland, but also introduces another thread - a mysterious traveler - into the jumps.
Of the ones I have yet to write, I think the three that I'm most looking forward to writing are #19, which is about the Great Stink of London in 1858, #25 which is a book AU based on The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, and #31, not because it's the last one, but because of the connection to one Jethro Rumple, a historical figure from North Carolina.
Number Three:
By far the most challenging part of this fic is coming up with the actual problems/issues to solve or lessons to learn. The consistent thing about the series is that the background/setting. The backgrounds and setting for the stories all came first, either obvious from the theme given in the list, or... well, in a lot of cases where i was stuck, I had help. Thank you *grin
So speaking of being stuck... There is one story in the series, for which the outline reads: What the actual fuck here? It's the story that is supposed to be "steampunk" So, if there's anyone out there who has a favorite steampunk, or something that could loosely fall under that heading and you want to send it my way, I'll see what I can do to Rumbelle it!
