“Season End” - following the Lowmax show jumping team at the Roaring Heights International, and the 3DE riders at the Texas Rose Horse Trials. And our singular dressage rider with our lonely lease horse! Good ol’ Nikolaj. I wrote a ‘lil bit on the forum, if you want to read that. Don’t feel obliged. Only a hint of a spoiler. Paltry stuff, really.

Black and white photographs have a finality about them which I think befits the fact traditional shows are no more.

And here's Kato cruising around cross-country. It was so much fun! Hoping we can get out around a beginner novice three-phase next month. I think once I shake the rust off, we'll get to novice pretty quickly.

People ask me why I like sighthounds and I always say it’s because I used to have horses and sighthounds are like having horses you can keep in the house.  But the better truth is that I used to be an eventer, which is kind of the extreme end of horse sports. All horses are athletic but eventers are super athletic--like sighthounds. They look like they’re running even when they’re loafing on the couch. 

That’s why we have sighthounds. (That’s not me in the picture, btw.)

What do they do?

I was just wondering.  For anyone that has been to a three-day event before or even just knows about them.... What do the competitors do when they aren't riding?  I mean I know just getting you and your horse ready to compete takes a while and there are vet checks and stuff but do you have a lot of down time? Do you watch the other competitors?

In all of my years of riding and teaching, I've never seen a fall quite like this one. Anticlimax, anyone?
