I did it! I found the most wtf shirt to ever grace the racks at my job. Monroe on front, hello titty on the back!
Please please PLEASE!
DO! NOT! Donate your period, and other bodily fluid/waste stained clothing! PLEASE. I am BEGGING.
Even if we DID wash all donations (we don't), its still nasty to donate your stained, crusty, items. DO NOT BE NASTY.
IT'S OK TO THROW FILTHY/STAINED CLOTHING AWAY I PROMISE. Or turn it into cleaning rags! Or harvest the non-gross portion of the fabric for crafts!
Today I sorted through, no exaggeration, several dozen pairs of period stained pants. Jeans! Shorts! Pjs! Body suits! Slacks! And not just like "oops I didn't know my period was starting" little bit of blood. Not like "whoops I moved wrong while sleeping and sloshed over the edge a bit". No, like full on "slept and woke up in the lake at the bottom of satan's waterfall", or some shit.
I hope that someone in that girl's life is able to take her aside and let her know that she doesn't have to live like that. That there are bigger/more absorbent options. That there are ways of getting blood stains out of your clothes so you don't have to destroy (and then donate?!) every pair of pants (and some of the dresses) that you own. That maybe she's got an unusually heavy flow that can be FIXED so she doesn't feel like she's bleeding to death every month.
With all the stuff that got donated, I shiver to think of the things that DIDN'T (there was no actual underwear, thankfully. I think if I'd run into 30 pairs of period blood crusted panties today I would have turned into the fucking joker and set the place on fire).
Saw some perfectly safe and fine-to-eat candy today! Yummy!
