Notre grande guerre est spirituelle, notre grande dépression, c’est nos vies.” Ainsi Tyler arrangue son Fight Club dans le roman éponyme de Chuck Palahniuk. Les vestiges d’une époque sans époque, voilà ce que pourraient raconter – entre autres – les fragment de The Thrill Is Gone, la plus ambitieuse exposition dédié au plasticien Théo Mercier.
Une vaste exposition au Musée d'art contemporain, un concert avec Flavien Berger, Jacques ou Julia Lanoë de Sexy Sushi ainsi qu’une performance “Radio Vinci Park” mise en scène aux côtés de François Chaignaud… À la rentrée, l’artiste déploie les réjouissances de son projet chaos concocté spécialement pour sa vieille fille préférée : Marseille.
Une collection de pierres d'aquarium, des jarres de dizaines de kilos posées en équilibre, Un tas de masques brisés, une skyline de tours de CD... Avec The Thrill Is Gone le jeune français entonne un mantra industriel entre le cercle tracé par une amonite paléozoique et la gomme contemporaine d’un pneu Goodyear. Son écriture est burnée, insolente, en colère. On a eu plaisir à rencontrer Théo Mercier, un de nos rares artistes générationnel à n’être ni un streetartiste, ni JR.
