Theon is fashion school drop-out that somehow landed a job as an assistant to infamous northern fashion icon Roose Bolton. He struggled to find an outfit for his first day (had maybe one or two panic attacks on the way) but didn’t think Roose would even notice his knockoff labubu.

Theon will learn quick that tacky trends and cheap suits won’t fly at Dreadfort Industries.

Roose will whip him into shape soon enough, or Theon will die trying 😭

Theon finds himself working as a driver for the family that took him hostage. Complications arise when he learns a secret that tests his loyalty.

This fic is so dark and so spellbinding. It doesn’t flinch away at all from the darker aspects of both Theon and the Starks, while at the same time feeling completely in character in this modern setting of organized crime. Theon’s relationships with both Robb and Jon are, by turns, predatory, toxic, and genuinely warm, sometimes one-sided, sometimes mutually so. And then you add Ramsay into the mix as the son of another mob boss hired to get vital family information out of Theon. You will feel conflicted, and that’s why I love this story so much. That and DoubleBit’s exquisite writing and storytelling.

This is the Throose fic. Hands down. And all of the warnings that go with it. You will want to throttle Roose regularly throughout this fic, but if you read the full summary and think it might be something up your alley, it probably is. Roose’s calm, calculating manner is such a stark contrast to Ramsay’s, but no less harrowing, and even marked by a distinct respect for Theon as a protégé of sorts.

I’ve been reading The Dungeon Master by EvilPeaches and while this scene may not be in the fanfic, this version of Ramsay is heavily inspired by it nonetheless.
