More soccer questions! Why does it seem like certain players are picked for throw ins?
Oof this one is fun, and actually there's no smart answer for this other than like, who's got the arm strength for it.
I was literally NEVER picked for throw ins because I have noodle arms and the ball wouldn't get very far when I would try 😂.
Some teams try to make set pieces out of throw ins, so it requires players who really put the time into their lifting and conditioning workouts. But tbh other than for sheer strength and reaching players that are unmarked, there's no science to who does the throw ins. Just, no limp noodles like me lmao.

For all the limp arm noodles persons, if you want to throw a bit further you can also use your abs ;) . If you go quick from a bow form to a planck by using your abs you create a speed not caused by your arm muscles.
Bold of you to assume that I have ANY abs worthy of the name.
jk but this is good advice. the point of a throw in is to become a glorified flesh catapult. Make your enemies fear your center of gravity. Push off with the strength of 10 crackheads fueling your core and hurling your arms, and thus the ball, forward. Don't forget to release and follow through.
This has been a PSA from the Limp Noodle but strong core association.
JUST GOT HOME FROM MY SOCCER GAME! WE WON 4-0!
MY TEAM IS SO BAD ASS. AND I FUCKING LOVE THEM.
it's too bad I play in the back and have no chance of scoring, unless I go coast to coast, but that's a lot of work and a lot of running and really hard to do. And then I have to sprint back so I can pick up my man again. Just too much.
Here's a story from the game. I was at midfield, marking my man. The other team's keeper punted the ball. I started running backwards to I could get it, my man was in front of me. The ball went over our heads so I turned to sprint after it, and the damn girl I was marking ran right over me! She stepped right on the back of my cleat, right over my heel, and knocked me over! She also managed to pull my cleat halfway off when she stepped on it. And I couldn't force it back on because I tie them so tight. But the ball was right there and it soon became chaotic because by that time everyone had gotten back and no one was there to pick up my man. And I wanted to go after her and the ball but my cleat wasn't on! And I couldn't just kick it the rest of the way off and go after her because then someone could have stepped on my foot and and I really hate bruised toes. Those are the worst. And having bruises on the top of your feet. Luckily one of the girls on the other team fouled one of our players so we got a free kick and I had a pause so I could put my cleat back on. And that's it. It's going to be really embarrassing watching that on film. Everyone is going to laugh at me.
