Dark eyes take in the scene with mute trepidation ━ his attempts had only appeared to exacerbate the problem. It might’ve been for the better had he left without a word - it could’ve blown over on it’s own - but he would’ve never been able to convince himself that was the right thing to do. At the least, he was grateful the spirit had left their host, even if they had run off without even a single word.
Unfortunately, that meant the specter had lost it’s limits too. It had GREW beyond his own size, bubbling like hot oil with quivering swells. Strangely enough, they didn’t seem angry ; rather, incredibly sad, lonely even without their vessel. Still ... they loomed rather menacingly and it only took one barely avoided swipe for him to realize what it wanted from him.
He wasn’t interested in giving up his body, but before he had a chance to turn and put distance between them, he heard footsteps coming up from behind and his shoulders tensed in preparation. It’d be far harder protecting more than himself.
Without looking, he cleared his throat and spoke carefully, taking care his accent didn’t make his urgency any less clear. ❝ You should turn back. Immediately. ❞
━ And then the ghost lunged with an awkward, full body lurch.
