Mother
Thui blocks out everything around her, as she continues to read through book after book. Her mother's sickness seems to be getting worse by the day, and she has no idea what to do. Pausing for a moment, she closes her eyes, fighting back tears “I know I need to talk to Tai, but... NO!” shaking her head “Kaelivh is right, I need to tell her, she can help my mother.” Looking back down into the book in her lap, she closes the book and sets it on the table and heads out to find Nattai “I promised him I would tell her first thing and I have to keep that promise!” as she exits the house, she nearly bowls Tai over. She tries to stop, but they end up falling to the ground “Oh! Nattai! I am so sorry!” Thui gets up quickly and helps Nattai to her feet. She quickly gathers the papers and files that were dropped and hands them back to Nattai “I... was just coming to find you. I have something I need to talk to you about.”
Nattai stands, brushing off her robes and looks over to Thui and smiles “It is alright dear. Let us go back inside and we can talk.” Tai opens the door of her home and lets Thui lead them back in. They both head downstairs to Tai's little office. Tai lays everything she was carrying in her arms down and takes a seat, inviting Thui to sit with her “Come, sit my friend. What has you in such a hurry?”
Thui looks over at the book she had left laying on the table, then takes a deep breath and a sear near Nattai. Nervously, she pulls at the sleeves of her robe. Tai reaches over and places her hand on Thui's to calm her “What has you so nervous? Whatever it is, tell me please.”
Thui takes another deep breath, looking over to her friend, tears welling up in her eyes “I'm sorry.” she says as the tears begin to flow “This has not been easy,” taking a few moments before continuing “It's my mother. I was trying to do this on my own and finding out... I can't.” Looking down into her lap as the tears continue to flow down her cheeks
Nattai scoots closer, and pulls Thui into her arms and hugs her tightly “You should have come to me sooner! Let's hope time is on our side. Tell me, what symptoms does she have?” Releasing the hug, but continues to hold her hand
Thui takes another deep breath and wipes her face “She told me that when she was younger, that she had gotten sick like this, but not this bad. It started with just coughing, then she started to have a fever and it wouldn't go away. Now she is coughing harder and sometimes she coughs up blood..” Sighing softly “Please, can you help her?”
Tai smiles hearing the door open and close, footsteps upstairs and his strong scent, Kael was home. He choose to stay upstairs upon hearing the two women down below talking, and takes a seat on the couch near the fire and relaxes with his cigar and drink. Tai briefly looks up and then back to Thui “Coughing up blood!? That is not good. When was the last time her temperature was taken? And what was it?”
“I took it yesterday,” Thui pulls out her little notebook, and opens it “It was umm.. I thought I wrote it down.” sighing softly, mumbling to herself about not taking better notes “I'm sorry, I don't have it here.”
Tai shakes her head “It is alright, you are worried about her and it is understandable. We will go to her now and do some tests and see what can be done. Okay?” Tai squeezes the young Miqo'te's hand and smiles. “We can take her to the infirmary at the estate, so she has round the clock care there. Between the eguanas, myself and a few others there, she will be cared for. You can stay with her there, or stay here in my home, with Kael and I. I know he won't mind it.”
