Hi I've been a big fan of your music for ages and you've kind of inspired me. I've started dabbling in song creating and I wanted to ask what program or application you use to make lots of copies of your voice all singing differently, because I would love to aim for the same amazing effect. I'm sorry for taking up your time, thank you. <3
Hi!!! So everything I’ve done so far has been on garageband. It’s free on macs and it’s not very sophisticated, but it’s perfectly complex enough for me. The way I do layered vocals is very simple - you just do different tracks! So for every song, there’s one track that’s just guitar. Then there’s another track with the main vocals. Then every vocal harmony has its own track – you just go back and record over what you’ve already recorded. It’s very simple actually!
One quick tip for layering vocals: when you record anything, you can choose which channel to put it in, meaning whether it’s in the center of your headphones, or in the left headphone, or right headphone. If you’re doing vocal harmonies, record every harmony twice and put one in the left channel and one in the right channel – it’ll give the harmonies a much fuller sound!
also don’t worry about it i love answering questions like this!!! You also might wanna check out this tag, where i’ve answered a lot of questions about my process before. If you ever do post your music online, i’d love to hear it <3
