the sound of screams and whoops greet him as max emerges from the entrance. the park is choked with people from every class and country. they cluster together in little groups, steering the crowd into the general direction of the larger attractions. chloe trails behind him, her eyes wide and dazzled. she'd been nagging him and phoebe about the new amusement park for weeks. it had opened somewhere in january and had become a popular haunt for tourist and locals alike. max and phoebe had both tried to ignore the incessant requests to go. feigning excuses just to get out of it. but chloe had cornered them last night, face set into a frown, lip quivering, blurting out some story about valentine's and wanting to spend it together until she'd finally got them to agree to take her.
she's dashing off now, a bundle of energy, but max hauls her back with a lazy flick of his telekinesis and steers her in the direction of the ferris wheel instead. "start with something easy. gotta work your way up to the big ones." he says. chloe gives him a knowing glance but relents and joins the queue forming behind faux velvet ropes. he can feel phoebe shift next to him, her fingers playing with the edge of a silver bracelet, watching nervously as a rollercoaster plummets to the earth in the distance. he'd have made fun of her if he didn't share her unease. "any chance we can convince her to stick to the small rides?" @thunder-giirl
