This is a raw preview of what I’m writing for Sabo going mad.
In the ruin and destruction of a once glittering city that prided itself as being the center of the world, ineffable silence followed. It all happened so fast, but there he lay in a pool of his own blood stretching out and away from him. Sabo could only stare in horror and disgust for himself and his own carelessness. The body of his mentor lay strewn out before him, as silent as he always was but with an air of finality in his death. Like so many before him, so many in Sabo’s life, he too had crossed over in a sudden swiftness that very easily could have been avoided if the blonde would just act.
The Celestial Dragon who had gotten one good shot off was ended on the spot by another, armed Rev. The deafening quiet was too much to bear in the light of so many failures. This was supposed to be their victory. They had taken down the marines, had cornered the World Nobles. This was the day they demanded justice for all the cruelty passed down by these evil men, but life simply would not allow such a smooth transition into a better world. All the bright things must be snuffed out, suffocated at the claws of dragons.
“Sabo…?” Koala’s voice was grief-stricken and hesitant. She approached her lover carefully, noting how tense his body had grown.
In a single, harsh breath, he gave their orders: “Fall back.” Koala wanted nothing more than to stay by his side; was it not wrong to abandon him in the presence of these monsters? Yet, the hardened light of lavender eyes left no room for protest. Exhausted and bedraggled, she gave him his distance and followed suit with the rest of their comrades.
The nobles seemed to realize their position, left alone with the former Chief of Staff and now leader of the Revolutionary scum. He would not give them the chance to kill him too. Something had shifted, from the hopeful and determined light in his gaze to something darker. He had been unhinged for a while now, his wounds ripped open by the news of Ace’s loss and festering ever since. Finally, the infection took hold.
This cruel world had been carved out by the claws of dragons. Now it would end in that same fashion.
One of them spoke first, departed from the huddled group of the rich and cowardly in this world. “We surrender!” He spoke with confidence, and truly believed that doing so would save their lives.
