🍂Happy September 1st! I’m in such a moody academic mood—sauntering with the elegant set, conversing over Mary Shelley by the fire. Leather bound books that carry the fingerprints of the “immortal” youth that once graced this grand oak library. Their secrets, terrible and true, scrawled in pencil over endpapers... I’ve had The Goldfinch since it’s release, and now seems the time to give it a whirl. If We Are Villains is another novel I’ve been eying for awhile. I'm sitting here trying to put into words my thoughts on this book, but I'm also surrounded by that well known bubble of sadness that appears when you turn the final page of a terrific book. Anyone who mentions #books to me will likely end up getting a 10 - 15 minute lecture on why they need to check out @jasperfforde's books. Words like clever, unique, funny, and smart will be tossed around, but they barely scratch the surface. When I get my hands on one of his books for the first time, I'm like a six year old on Christmas morning. And he has never disappointed. Because life gets in the way, it took me longer to read #EarlyRiser than I thought it would, but I truly loved every page, paragraph, sentence, and word. I savored the story and I'm so sorry it came to an end. I loved the characters and I LOVE how Fforde always...ALWAYS...gets me with the twist. I can usually guess what'll happen next in most books, but he always zigs when I think he'll zag. If you haven't yet, I implore you to check out his books.
