More than any other human au I think the hockey fic just understands cas. Him being from a foreign country where he wasnt really allowed to do much because he was focused on his mission. Him becoming fascinated with dean but he also doesnt put up with dean being an asshole. His jealousy of guys dean hasnt even realized he's into. But he does know pop culture and I think him being a star trek fan is so important
Obviously every human au is going to lose some stuff but... it's surprisingly natural to recode their dynamic into hockey. Especially because hockey and killing people are both hypermasculine 🙂↕️
