Thwaite, Yorkshire Dales by Bob Radlinski Via Flickr: Thwaite is a delightful small village in Swaledale where many of the cottages are now self-catering, but there is a large farm at the edge of the village that provides lots of cow and sheep activity. The Kearton Country Hotel in the heart of the village serves excellent meals and rents ensuite rooms. If you enjoy hiking, the Dales are ideal, Swaledale is one of the prettiest of the Dales, and Thwaite is a great place to use as a base. The Pennine Way goes right through the village and crosses the Coast-to-Coast Walk in nearby Keld.
