Tattoos are not something Jill frequents. It’s more than likely she’s the type of person who says tattoos should have meaning before you get them on your body. “It needs to mean something,” “It’ll be there with you forever,” et cetera,  et cetera.

She does have two, however.

Both are on her ankles, one on each ankle. The first is her date of induction of Delta Force training. It’s both a source of pride and a remembrance of where she’s come from. Perhaps a bit nostalgic.

The second is of Forest’s dogtags, wrapped around her ankle similarly to an anklet. It faces distally, pointed on the inside rather than out, and the tag itself is next to where the tibia points out, creating the bump in the ankle.

She discovered his body in Arklay and kept his tags due to the events he started: befriending her, finding a place within such an androcentric environment, meeting Chris. In truth he was a catalyst to their entire relationship.

Truly, her lack of vocalizing her appreciation for things she took for granted had come to haunt her.

Her getting his tag tattooed is similar in meaning to her initiation date: of remembrance, and a reminder of what is given, can be taken just as easily.

Offer neither forgetfulness, nor forgiveness, to lessen the value of everything that has gotten you where you are, or so her mantra goes.

Such has given her a reputation for being vindictive.
