Here is something really strange about Stella. It is very clear that Stella doesn’t love Stolas. She didn’t want to marry him. She was forced to marry. She doesn’t even want his money and power. She was perfectly okay with just moving in with her brother and leaving him the house.
Here is my question!
Why can’t the writers just redeem her?
She is not a threat to Stolas and Blitzo relationship. I think the show also implied that Stella somehow hates Octavia too. So, Stella doesn’t want to turn Octavia against him.
I don’t want much. Stella can be an antagonist. I just want the writers to admit that Stella also kinda got screwed over by the arrangement marriage. We know that Stella wasn’t a good wife. I still have to ask .
Was Stolas a good husband when they first met?
As a child, he cried at the very idea of marrying her . This was before they knew each other. We know he was quiet when she insulted him. I still ask. Did he ever try to just talk to her? They were forced into this situation. Still , I don’t think it wasn’t at least possible for them to become. Did Stolas try figure out why Stella hated him so much even before she knew him? Did he just stay indifferent to her and antagonize her at every opportunity? Did he make it completely obvious that he would never even care about her? Stella seems used to just hearing him complain all the time. When Stolas complains, she mostly looks at him annoyed. However, when she is mad at him, he acts she is pure evil.
If all of this is true, I totally understand why she is so mad at him. I understand why she would end up abusing him. Her social status wouldn’t let her just leave him. What else was she supposed to here?
I get the feeling that Stella was heavily mentally abused as a child. Her parents probably trained her to care completely about what others thought of her . If this is true, that is the reason she didn’t directly get a divorce. I honestly think Stella wouldn’t care that about Stolas sleeping with an imp if he wasn’t public about it.
That technically means she was being vain. However, if she was trained to maintain social standing above all else, it would make sense why she acts like that. Also, if she was raised like that, Stella technically tried to be a good mom to Octavia. We never see her force Octavia to do something she didn’t want to do. If Octavia truly believed her parents were fine before the divorce, Stella must have tried to keep up appearances with her. So, Stella didn’t want her daughter to go through what she went through.
I don’t know.
Anon I dunno who you are but I kinda agree with you here. So much to do for a character and such little care...
Also it's a little funny how people treat Stella like a horrid mother who abuses Octavia as well but we have never seen them interact until now.
