she’s curled in on herself, her arms hugging her knees close to her chest and her head dropped on top of them. she wants to make herself as small as possible— she wants to disappear from the face of the earth.

Her arms wraps securely around Veronica as she rubs slow, gentle circles into her shoulder. She hates seeing Veronica like this. She’d do anything in her power to make sure Veronica never had to feel like this, but... she doesn’t know what to do. She doesn’t know how to keep everything okay.
“Of course you are.”
Her head drops, resting on top of Veronica’s. She wishes that this was simpler. She wishes that she knew what to say to fix everything.
“Everything’s going to be fine.”
The problem is, she doesn’t know how true that statement is. She doesn’t even know what’s WRONG with Veronica half of the time. She has no idea how everything is going to work out. She has no idea if anything is ever going to be okay.

This is what she gets for trying to show off. In her defence, she’d done the flip literally hundreds of times before. She hadn’t expected it to go so wrong this time. She doesn’t even want to look at her leg. She doesn’t want to see the damage she’s done.
