I'm just really emo about the possible thycaline sighting like;;;

I grew up constantly hearing how humans have fucked up. I have seen so many pictures of creatures I'd never see in person because of our own errors. This one animal may be gone forever, but just the very slim possibility of it being alive? THAT is SO powerful. We may have a shot at redemption, but even more, we may be able to someday show our children/future generations that an animal dammed to hell straight up denied death itself and survived. THAT'S inspiring in the best way.

The Room of Endangered and Extinct Species

“Like most natural history museums, the Grande Galerie de l'Évolution in Paris is a swarm of children and corralling parents, all trailing through the stunning exhibitions of taxidermy elephants and whale skeletons. However, up on the second level you'll find a room that isn't frequented as much, where the lights are barely on. In each of the wood and glass cases is a creature that is disappearing, or already gone.

La Salle des Espèces Menacées et des Espèces Disparues, or the Room of Endangered and Extinct Species, has 257 specimens from the animal and plant kingdoms. Many are the only remaining examples of their species, such as the skeleton of a black emu. Others represent a species that is on the brink of obliteration, including the Sumatran tiger . . .

It's a haunting experience to walk through the hall, with most visitors struck silent by the assemblage of these ghosts . . . Yet more than a memorial, the space is meant to be a call to action, to consider what has been forever lost, but also what can be saved.” (source)

So yup, here's another part to animal facts, only a different section: Extinct Animal Facts.

The Thylacine is widely believed to be extinct, only a semblance of hope remains that the medium/large-dog sized survives somewhere in the wilds in Tasmania. Some people think that there is a small group of Thylacines anywhere between 20-300 still alive.

Of course, this is all conjecture and on November 11th, 2013 they believed they found evidence suggesting the Thylacine was around.

None of this was proven, it was all hopefulness (or publicity stunts) to find the potential survival of the marsupial announced extinct in the 1930's.
