About halfway through the Iliad and I'm dying.

First of all, I don't usually read the summaries of each book that my translation has. Tonight I made the mistake of doing so and FYM POSEIDON HELPS THE GREEKS. I'm sorry. WHAT.

Second of all I am dying laughing about the way this translation does things. Idk how the original lines up but in this one Homer is constantly complaining about the kids these days. "Hector lifted up this rock see - oh he was so much stronger than anyone you see these days smh what is the world coming to" SIR

Reasons we should bring back Middle English

Cool letters

Thorn, yogh, etcetera

2. Cool pronouns

Thou/thee/thy/thine/thyself, also ȝit and wit (you twain and we twain, respectively)

3. Cool verb conjugation

Thou hast, thou dost, thou wilst, etcetera

4. Cool, very specific verbs

Bro we had a verb for the act of giving someone a hat!!! And we traded this for Modern English??? There are so many cool verbs.........and nouns!!! There were so many hyperspecific words that we just stopped using!! We should be ashamed!! We should be more like German!!

4. cool verb infinitives (edit)

we uasd to have infinitives like those in German. Haven is WAY cooler than to have.
