4. Cool, very specific verbs

Bro we had a verb for the act of giving someone a hat!!! And we traded this for Modern English??? There are so many cool verbs.........and nouns!!! There were so many hyperspecific words that we just stopped using!! We should be ashamed!! We should be more like German!!

See. Like. The idea that people get you gifts or nice things randomly is so weird to me. You get them at birthday and christmas. I can probably count on my hand how many times I've gotten gifts or surprises not then. Even then, plenty of them were group things like with the girl scouts troop I was a part of. Or buying things in vacay.

And then there's Mikey who literally just found another birthday gift for me randomly. And likes to buy things anytime. Weirdo behavior.

This was done for a DeviantArt contest back in 2005. I think the theme was Predator vs fantasy or horror creature. I went with "bug-eyed monster" because I'd recently finished reading several Cthulhian-themed anthologies. I was definitely going for "silly" and "I've read enough manga to know where this is going" with the caveat of "unless the hero turns it into sashimi first".

I made this with watercolor and Prismacolor pencils over an ink drawing. The hero is called Khan'nai. The tentacle-beast is just another interdimensional horror with a name that has too many glottal stops.
