Questions for Sofiya

I had all of these done by the early afternoon but for whatever reason Tumblr not only deleted the response but also the original question and I'm so mad that I had to do them over but my response is also more cohesive this time because I'm not on my phone so! Here they are!

I've never had any but I usually eat my favourite thing last.

3.  Let's say you have access to a time machine, but it can only go either backward or forward. One or the other. Which do you choose and where do you go? I would probably go back in time just long enough to fix my biggest mistakes.

4. If you could choose to have any superpower ever, which would you pick? Teleportation. Or telekinesis but they usually go hand in hand.

5. Tomorrow morning, you wake up in the body of a celebrity, like in a '90s body-swap movie. Who is it? How do they react to your life? What do you do when you're "them"? Would you choose to switch back? I wouldn't switch with a celebrity. I'm not interested in any enough to want to be them, even for a day. If anything I'd be more interested to switch with a friend or someone I'm close to in order to actually see how they see, instead of just trying to understand.

15. What was your favourite Halloween costume as a kid? How about as a teen/adult? I was never that big on Halloween, but when I was little I always dressed up as a fairy, complete with sparkly wings. As I got older it phased out and I stopped with the costume thing, for the most part.

17. What was the first movie you remember seeing in theatres? Dinosaur with my dad, and I remember thinking that the egg belonged to the pterodactyl in the opening shot, and also that the t-rexes scared me, and also that my preschool had a graduation ceremony and my grandfather bought me a toy of the movie's protagonist dinosaur Aladar. I still have it, I think. I keep meaning to find it so I can give it to Hadia. She loves dinosaurs.

18. Do you prefer music with male or female vocalists? I think it depends on the genre. There's not a lot of female rock singers (particularly from the 60s/70s), and I don't think the higher register or the softer sound really suits that style of music. But sometimes, like in the case of ballads, operas, or R&B I really like female voices.

19. You and the love of your life are having a baby, and you get to choose the name! There's only one catch: your partner INSISTS that it be the name of a place, real or fictional. What do you name your baby? I like Lorien, Venice, and London, and for boys maybe Osgiliath because my kid would hate me but it's so much fun to say.

20. If you could reboot or remake any movie, what would it be and who would you cast? I don't feel like I watch enough movies to do this. I kind of want to say Star Wars but people would hate it for ruining a cult classic. Maybe The Hobbit but instead of recasting I'd condense it into one movie. Or maybe a hard core Power Rangers movies. Yeah. With Ryan Higa.

36: Do you have any tattoos? Do you want any? I don't yet but hopefully soon??? I want the filled in silhouette of a butterfly behind my left ear, a small collection of birds flying away on my hip, and something really tiny and minimalistic on my wrist.

42: Is morality universal or relative? This is a neat question. I think it's definitely relative because different cultures, philosophies, religions, etc value different things and that paints the world in different shades of grey for everyone. Should morality be relative? Maybe not. Maybe it would be easier to have a world of set black and white.

47: Do you get along better with old people or little kids? I like old people's stories and their food and the little quirks that have become cemented in them over the years and usually they're so interesting and pretty cute. The only kid I really like is my baby Hadia so.

49: What's your best bodily feature, objectively speaking? I don't have one? I don't think any part of me is particularly nice or pretty or spectacular. Actually if I get specific I only find more things that I hate, but the overall visual isn't bad I think? I know it says objectively but I really can't think of anything. Maybe my nails. They're shocking pink and they look kind of nice today.

5, 9, 23, 27, 33 man buddy I know the answers to all of these that's no fun

I can’t remember anything off the top of my head. The only type of things I’ve really felt roped into are a couple of movie nights and riding the ferris wheel at Darien Lake two years ago. The movie nights I don’t care about much but the ferris wheel I’m still totally furious about. I guess that’s not really peer pressure. Um.

Maybe taking 13 APs was peer pressure. I think I regret that. Maybe losing weight was peer pressure. I don’t know. I don’t feel like I’ve been pressured much by the people around me, particularly when I could have used the pressure. I’ve mostly been left alone.

9. Would you ever bleach your hair platinum blonde?

In a heartbeat if it didn’t look so weird with my too-dark-for-that skin.

23. As of this minute, what is going through your mind?

I’m really stressed out and thinking about all the things there are to be stressed out about.

27. Does it bother you when people try to make you jealous?

I don’t think anyone’s ever tried to make me particularly jealous? There was the whole SofiyaRob thing for a while but I don’t think her motivation there was to make me jealous. I think that I’m a pretty jealous person by nature, so I guess it would bother me a lot if it happened. I was pretty upset about Rob for a while there and that wasn’t an out to get me thing.

33. When was the last time you went apple picking?

I’ve never been apple picking. I think I’ve been cherry picking on multiple occasions, but not in a long, long time.

Do you have any quirks when speaking?Err, probably? I know I’ve picked up a bit of Tumblr speak, I stumble over things and usually just give up and most of my exclamations are just “Why”. Sometimes my words become clipped and have a bit of an accent, depending on what I’ve been doing my spare time. It also depends a lot on who I’m talking to. With Becca I speak more slowly, with more random hand gestures and longer pauses. With Trisha I speak more normally, the words flow a little easier. With Sofiya I am almost completely uncensored and literally say whatever is in my head most of the time, even if it’s just “ladumdumdajkgtmemersheep.”

Do you like to sing?Yeah, a lot, haha. I’m not too bad, I think, but also it makes boring chores more bearable.

Who do you consider close to you?Sofiya who hears everything, even if it’s a few weeks late, Trisha, who is pretty non-judgemental and not going to get upset if I don’t use the right words, and usually knows what I’m saying. Sometimes I forget I can talk to Becca, too, mostly because I don’t want to drown her in things she hasn’t had to deal with before. Oh also Hadia who gives me hugs and sits on my head.

What was the best moment of your life?Uh. That’s really hard. There was the time we were sitting in Tyler’s backyard, and Ben II was on the swings, and Trisha and I were sitting on the patio chairs, that moment felt pretty infinite. There was lying on the rock at Central Park while Sofiya read Sylvia Plath, that was really perfect, too. There was the first time I held Hadia in my arms as she laughed and I didn’t know what she was doing. I’m sure there’s more, probably too many to have a complete list.

Do you wish for something of your past?I miss some of my obliviousness, to be honest. I don’t like walking around my house and seeing everyone’s misery, and the inescapable unendingness of it, and knowing that it is never going to be okay, all I can do is get out of here and wish them luck.

Do you prefer kindness, sternness, or apathy?Oh my god if I have to face anymore apathy I am going to kill myself. I’ve spent most of my life looking for attention and there is only so low you can go before you’re dead. I want sternness, but I want it to be kind, I want it to be reasonable and malleable and willing to listen. I don’t want rules for the sake of rules.

What is the hardest thing you have ever had to do?Face my mum when she found out I cut. Sit around the entire summer and after, knowing what Sofiya was thinking and doing. Learn to hate myself a little less. The last one worked a bit, though, so kudos to me.

What is the most memorable dream or nightmare you had?One is when I was five and watched Godzilla and then dreamt that Godzilla sneaked into our house to use our microwave. The other was one where everyone I ever knew was rounded up into this barren castle and tortured turn by turn, and given the opportunity I ran away and left them all behind.

Do you consider yourself strong?I am weakweakweak. I have no control. I do everything I shouldn’t, even when I have the capacity to change, because I have no fucking control.

Most generous thing someone has done for you?herpderp the gift of life?No I resent that sometimes. I don’t know how to answer this. I’m trying to think of something pretty to say.

Hardest thing you have gone through?Recently it was the Sunday before Valentine’s Day because I was so excited for that day and instead I just spent the week feeling guilty and sick and panicked over it. Long term, though, I dunno. Freshmen year when I ran the house for a few months? Sophomore year when the divorce was being thrown around? Junior, when I just wanted to die? I don’t know. I’ll just say high school, 0/10, would not recommend.

What is your favourite part of your personality?Recently I’ve been more collected and more patient, I think, so I guess that’s good. That is, I’m proud of it. I don’t really have a favourite part, per se.

What do you value most?Why did you ask me such hard questions oh my god.I don’t know. I don’t have a list of values I want, I don’t hold any strong convictions, I’m more or less apathetic to morality except when it suits me. Pretty much the only thing I hold to is that just because someone has it worse doesn’t mean you aren’t allowed to be miserable. That doesn’t answer your question at all but that is my one philosophical rule. Also that life is inherently meaningless. You imbue it with meaning, and whatever “imbuing with meaning” means is open to interpretation.

A description of the girl/boy I like: Well, she's pale and thin, with eyes that are grey and green and brown at once, and a really cute butt, and dark gold (or light brown, whatever you want to call it) hair that's so thick I would kill for it. What I find attractive in women: Personality wise? I think (for men and for women), I like people who are able to be assertive, but listen, and people who can have opinions, but change them, and people who know things, but can still learn. I just like for people to be malleable, because I want to be able to change and grow, and you can't do that if everyone around you is static. 35. What I find attractive in men: see above. Physically, feminine men are more attractive to me. Penii are generally not. Just throwing that out there. 36. Where I would like to live: I generally imagine I'll end up in Europe somewhere.
