Simple Conversation in Chinese

你好。 - hello.

   (早上好 - Good morning.）

  （下午好 - Good afternoon.） 

  （晚安 - Good night.）

你好吗？ - How are you?

  （我很好 - I'm fine/ I'm good.）

  （我还好 - I'm okay.）

  （马马虎虎 - So, so.）

  （我不好 - I'm not fine.）

 你叫什么？ - What's your name?

  （我叫。。。- My name is...）

When you say this you are only asking for someone's first name. This is an informal way of speaking.

  EXAMPLE: 你叫什么？

                     我叫 Laura。

你叫什么名字？ - What's your name?

  （我叫。。。- My name is...）

This version of "What is your name?" asks for both your first and last name. This is what I would recommend you to say when you're speaking to a stranger or anyone in a formal setting. The format that you say your name is last name/ surname then followed by your first name.

  EXAMPLE: 你叫什么名字？

                     我叫 Smith Laura。

很高兴见到你。 -  Nice to meet you

  (也很高兴见到你 - It's nice to meet you too.）
