The first part of our 2 stage trip to Oman.
North on Emirates Road from Abu Dhabi until we reach Ras Al Khaimah. Negotiated round a soggy RAK and onwards to Tibat border Post.
Border crossing painless - first stop UAE and 35DHms each to leave, then stop at Oman border post, and another 50DHms each to enter.
Then through into Musandam. The first stop a beach just north of Tibat to stretch our legs, and for P to collect stones...
Second stop Bukha and the well renovated Fort. Helpful guide showed us around although he couldn't speak much English.
Lunch in Bukha - not much to choose from, but found a local restaurant that seemed busy with take outs. Meadath Bukha restaurant on the main street. Chicken Biryani all round and huge portions for each of us, with accompanying dal and curries. Great food - and far too much - all for 5 Omani Rials.
Onwards then to Khasab following the road as it wound it's way between the mountains and the sea. A great drive, and not as long as it looked on the map as the road is very good. Checked in to the Khasab hotel after a short drive from one end of town to the other.
Khasab is a quiet place - not surprising given the isolation - and we set about exploring until sunset. After the huge lunch a few snacks from the Lulu Hypermarket saw us through the evening. Early night - although difficult given the noise of other guests.
