Travel Stokvel makes travel easier

For South Africans, travelling with your family and friends has never been easier, doable and more accessible than it is right now. Most of all, it is affordable. Your favourite local destinations are within reach of your pocket thanks to the Travel Stokvel. According to National Association of Stokvel South Africa, some R44-billion is collectively saved in 820,000 stokvels in South Africa.

Holiday travelling is by and large, always a group activity. Getting a group together to help save for a holiday in advance using the Stokvel seems like a wise choice. The initiative created by Flight Centre and supported by South African Tourism.

According to the National Association of Stokvels South Africa, some R44-billion is collectively saved in 820 000 stokvels across the country.

Communal savings schemes such as stokvels are not new to South Africans. It has been a tried and tested way of saving. With travel being cumbersome and sometimes pricey, it is only natural that South Africans look to communal savings to help them enjoy their country.

Today, tourism establishments and travel agencies have picked up on this trend with many stokvel travel packages becoming increasingly available. Last year, Flight Centre, in partnership with South African Tourism, committed itself to stokvel travel options.

At the centre of this movement is the understanding that there are millions of aspiring travellers scattered across the country. For them, having access to debt-free wanderlust is a breath of fresh air.

At the recent Travel Expo held at Johannesburg’s Ticketpro Dome in February this year, Flight Centre saw a record number of sign-ups for the agency’s Stokvel club. It proved to be popular, with a staggering 48% increase in sign-ups.

South African Tourism and its travel partners are also pushing this group savings agenda with travel deals on South African Tourism’s domestic travel platform, Sho’t Left, already joining the Stokvel way of payment.

Additionally, Sho’t Left has been embarking on a Travel Week campaign that seeks to give travellers up to 50% off on domestic travel deals. Get your friends and family together, discuss your travel goals and simply commit. South Africa is an exquisite country characterised by a limitless sense of awe and wonder, a country begging to be explored. And together, we can all explore it.

Jövő hónapban indul a Nickelback turnéja

Szeptember 2-án, Helsinkiben startol el a Nickelback vadonatúj világkörüli turnéja, a kanadai négyes már gőzerővel készül az aktuális megmérettetésre. 

Most fejezik be legújabb kislemezük munkálatait, amelyl várhatóan augusztus második felében debütál majd a rádióknál világszerte.

Ezzel egyidőben óriási tempóban készítik elő a turnét, elkezdődtek a próbák, és már állítják össze a dalok listáját is. A koncerten felcsendülő nótákra a rajongók is szavazhatnak a zenekar hivatalos Twitter oldalán keresztül, hiszen a banda nincs könnyű helyzetben. Csak a YouTube megtekintések alapján az első 30 daluk több tízmilliós nézettséggel bír, ezért is kérték a rajongók segítéségét, hogy a programban tényleg a legjobban vágyott slágerek legyenek benne.

Ráadásul az új turné a zenekar életében egyfajta jubileumot is képvisel, 20 éve, 1996-ban adták életük első koncertjét együtt.

“Ugyan 95-ben alakultunk, de az első koncertünket 1996-ban adtuk.” – emlékszik vissza Chad Kroeger az indulásra – “Ez az egész olyan, mint egy forgószél. A kezdeteknél leülhetsz és elhatározhatod bármelyik bandánál, hogy most aztán meghódítjátok a világot és még 30 év múlva is színpadon lesztek, de erre soha semmi garancia nincs, bármilyen jók is vagytok.  Mi úgy álltunk hozzá, hogy addig zenélünk, amíg élvezzük, és amíg még bárki is kiváncsi lesz ránk – és ennek már 20 éve. Azóta is ehhez tartjuk magunkat, és hihetetlen szerencsések vagyunk, hogy még mindig itt lehetünk. Köszönjük a rajongóknak ezt a csodát!”
