23 - absently tracing patterns on exposed skin
“careful—!”
Jeremy moved his hand from Rich’s arm and sat up from the couch. “I’m so sorry! Did I hurt you?”
Rich could already feel his face heating up. “I, um, not exactly.” Which wasn’t exactly a lie. A lot of areas on his burn scars were still sensitive and hurt to touch.
Slowly and carefully, Jeremy moved back to his position. “Is it okay if I do it then?”
It’s preferable for you to not.” Rich joked. He could tell Jeremy still had a guilty look on his face and picked up one of his hands, slowly rolling up the slightly taller boy’s sleeves. “I can do it to you though!”
Gentle giggles erupted from Jeremy‘s mouth as he tried to hold still, letting Rich trace small patterns on his wrists and arms. This only lasted for a little before Jeremy finally squirmed away.
“No fair!” Rich whined, trying to sound mad at Jeremy.
”You can do that once I can actually get revenge” Jeremy moved back close to Rich, cuddling close to him. Rich couldn‘t even look mad as he kissed the top of Jeremy’s head.

After the squipcident, it took a while for things to return to their normal states. Nobody was the same, nor would they ever be the same again, but other than the obvious problems that were still faced, most changes were for the better.
Other than Rich and Jeremy's underlying anxiety and mental illnesses left by the squips, Jake was on of the few people left with long-term issues from the incident.
Jake's legs had been badly injured, and his house had been burned down, resulting in him living in a shelter for a few months, as well as being on crutches.
Rich, of course, had visited him every day, each time expressing his guilt and sorrow to Jake for the things he had done. Rich brought jake food, and clothes every day after work.
Sometimes, Jake would notice bruises on Rich's body, and he'd lightly brush over them, every once in a while a burn or cut would make itself known as well.
This cycle went on for a while, Jake living in the shelter, Rich bringing him things, Rich apologizing, repeat.
It wasn't until Jake's crutches were off, Rich showing up with a giant bruise covering the left side of his face, his eye swollen shut, that he finally asked Jake if he wanted to buy and apartment with him.
Rich had been working as many hours as possible, and doing as many "odd-jobs" as possible, for the last 4 months, and he was ecstatic to finally be able to leave his abusive father.
Jake agreed right away, holding back tears when he seen the bruised face of the boy he had grown to love, and soon enough, they were paying for their very own apartment.
———————————————————————————————————
At first, Jake and Rich were awkward to say the least.
In the apartment, when both of them were home, they would awkwardly dance around each other, sharing the occasional small talk or head nod. It took a week or so, but they quickly warmed up to living together.
Considering the fact that they were best friends, and had undoubtedly seen each naked far too many time to count, it didn’t take long, and soon enough they worked like clockwork.
They would go to school together, go home, Rich would cook dinner, Jake would clean, and then they’d watch a movie together.
Life seemed to be getting better and better by the day, for both of them.
———————————————————————————————————
After a few weeks of living together, Rich and jake had grown closer than they had ever been. They were basically attached at the hip 24/7. Jake had used up some of the remainder of his parents' money to buy a car for the two of them, so at this point there was really no reason for them to be apart.
They were closer than either of them had known possible, but both of them loved it.
One day, during one of the few moments in which jake and rich weren't together, Jake found himself at school, talking to Michael. Since the squip accident, everyone was friends, which made jake happy. He had grown closer with Jeremy and Michael, and he got to know Chloe, Brooke, and Christine in different ways than before.
On this particular afternoon, Michael and Jake were sitting outside behind the school, watching Jeremy and Rich finish up their gym class.
Jake cleared his throat, rubbing the back of his neck before speaking up, "hey.... can I ask you a kind of weird question?" He said, looking into Michael's direction without meeting his gaze.
"Yeah, of course! Go for it Jake," Michael responded, cheery as usual.
"When did you uh.... know that you liked Jeremy...... like... that," Jake stuttered out, finally looking Michael in the eyes.
"Well... Jeremy and I have been friends for 12 years, I guess after a while I just kind of new that my feelings for him weren't feelings of only friendship," Michael stated
"I guess I knew because of the way he stared to make me feel when I looked at him, or when he smiled, or laughed. I know it sounds like the cheesy shit ever, and i swear I'm not high, but I just knew.
“And while we're still on the topic, yes I totally think you should ask Rich out. I see the way you guys look at each other dude. Just go for it, put yourself out there." Michael finally finished. By this point, Jake was blushing a rather bright shade of red, as he attempted to stutter out a response.
"T-thanks Michael, but I don't think he feels the same. It's okay though, it wouldn't be the first disappointment I've ever had."
"Dude, he feels the same. Just trust me."
———————————————————————————————————
That weekend, Jake had gone out to get some groceries while Rich stayed at the apartment cleaning up. At this point, it had been 9 weeks since they had moved in together, and Rich still felt guilty for the situation that happened with Jake's old house. So, Rich decided to surprise Jake with a new addition to their apartment, that may make this home feel more like Jake's last one.
There Rich was, anxiously pacing the apartment, waiting for his delivery to arrive.
As time dragged on, Rich felt as if he needed to stall Jake a little more, worried that the surprise would arrive too late, so, he phoned Jake and asked him to run another errand for him.
"Hey, sorry Jakey-D, can you run to the pharmacy and pick up my meds? I forgot to pick them up the other day after school and I just ran out."
"Yeah, yeah, of course Rich, I'll see you in an hour."
———————————————————————————————————
An hour and a half later, Jake arrived back at their apartment, scrambling to get his key despite all of the grocery bags he was holding.
He opened the door, walking in with his head down. "Hey, can you help me with these-" he began, noticing it was oddly silent. Still looking down, he placed the groceries on the island in their kitchen, placing the car keys in the bowl.
At this moment, he decided to see why it was so silent. Looking up, his eyes were met with the sight of a spotless apartment, and right in the middle, a pool table, even better than the one he used to have.
"Hey..." Rich began, a small smile on his face, "I wanted to make this place feel a little bit more like home for you, how do you li-" before Rich could even finish what he way saying, soft lips were on his, and strong arms were around his body.
"It's perfect," Jake told him, their noses touching while they came up for air. "Right now, everything is perfect." Big smiles spread across both of their faces as they separated to put away the groceries.
———————————————————————————————————
An hour later, after the both of them had calmed down, Jake suggested the idea of christening their new pool table.
"Let's play... but why don't we make this interesting?" He began "how about, loser gets a punishment of the winner's choosing?" He challenged, looking at Rich.
Once he got a nod of approval, they began their game. Putting on their poker faces for the next few hours.
———————————————————————————————————
2 hours and a beer or two later, the boys had played many, many games. Oddly enough, Rich had won most of them.
After winning his fifth game, 5-2, he ran around the apartment, screaming and shouting about his victory.
Jake, of course, wasn’t about to let Rich gloat, so he waited until Rich came running near him again, and grabbed him by his waist.
With a yelp, Rich started to fight to get out of Jake’s gasp, but the taller boy had already started to pull them onto the floor. Jake, knowing Rich’s weakness, wiggled his fingers into the ribs of the stronger boy,in order to get him on the ground completely.
In seconds Rich was on the floor, collapsed in a heap of giggles.
“jahahahake nohohohoho!” Rich giggled out, batting at Jake’s hands.
Jake just smiled, fully pinning Rich.
Having recently learned of Rich’s ticklishness, Jake set to work right away, wiggling his finger’s against Rich’s sensitive ribs.
“Jahahahake Ihihihihihim sohohohohohory,” Rich giggled out, struggling under Jake. Rich didn’t mind tickling, but Jake was always ruthless.
Jake smirked, looking down at Rich and laughing along with him. “No can do Goranski. I think I need to teach you a little humility.”
Jake trailed his fingers a little higher, tickling the shorter boy’s neck and ears, causing him to emit high-pitched giggles.
“Stahahahahap,” Rich pleaded, pushing at Jake’s hands.
“No can do, you’re bragging even though you know how good I am at pool,” Jake slipped out, not realizing his mistake.
“Ohohohohohoh my gohohohod dihihihihid yohohohou lehehet mehehe wihihin!” Rich squealed out as Jake spidered over his tummy.
“Yeah, I couldn’t let you just keep on sulking, yeah my life was fucked for a little but it wasn’t your fault, now stop your moping,” Jake teased.
Then, He was asking Rich what his favourite fruit was and Rich was thrown into loud belly laughter.
“nohoHOHOHOHO DOHOHONT,” Rich screeched, bucking hard against Jake’s hold. Jake’s fingers were skilled, and poor Rich was just too ticklish for his own good.
This went on for a while, Jake telling Rich that he would not stop until he heard cries for mercy,so Jake decided to go in for the kill.
One of Jake’s hands found it’s way to Rich’s knees, the other finding it’s way under Rich’s arms.
“NOHOHOHOHOHOHO MEHEHEHEHEHERCY IHIHIHIM SOHOHOHOHORRY! ILL NEHEHEHEHEVER BRAHAHAHAHAG AGAAHAIN!” Rich screamed, struggling hard from underneath Jake.
The taller boy kept it up for a minute or so before Rich was able to grab his wrists. Jake rolled off of the boy, rolling onto his side on the floor to look at him.
Giggles slipped from Rich’s lips as he calmed down, also rolling onto his side to face Jake. Rich leaned into Jake, giving him a kiss on his cheek, stroking his thumb against the taller boy’s face.
“Thank you,” Rich said, looking into Jake’s eyes.
“No, thank you.”
And they fell asleep there, on the floor looking into each other’s eyes, no more pain or troubles for the night.
Here's a shitty Halloween drabble, enjoy & happy Halloween!
It had almost been a year since Rich had burned down his best friend, now boyfriend's house. It was hard to look back, but it was nearly impossible not to with the date so close. He didn't mean to, didn't want to, but the squip was in his head and there was no way to shut it off. It drove him insane and he-
"Boo!"
Rich jumped slightly in his seat, turning to see Jake pull off an ugly Halloween mask, laughing. "Oh man, I didn't expect to scare you that bad!"
"I was scared! I was just thinking and, you startled me." Jake smiled down at his boyfriend, leaning down to wrap an arm around his shoulder and propping himself up on the back of his chair. "What were you thinking about?"
Rich sighed, "A lot of stuff. It's been a year you know."
"Excuse me?"
"It's been a year since- everything that happened. With me, the party... your house..."
Jake realized why Rich had been acting strange and pulled up a chair next to him, scooting close. "Hey, all of that's behind us, okay? Insurance took care of it and no one got hurt. How about you focus on what's happening now, yeah?" Rich looked up at him with slightly tired and sad eyes, "It's just hard, y'know?"
"I know it can be hard, especially since it's been a year since everything that's happened. But can I at least get a smile?" The corner of Rich's mouth curled slightly, barely even noticeable. "C'mon, you can do better than that. Give me a real smile." Rich decided to be difficult and smirked, "No."
His mischief didn't go unnoticed by Jake, "You can either cheer up on your own... or you can face the consequences."
"What kind of consequences?" Rich asked, pulling him closer to himself. Jake felt him being tugged closer to his boyfriend and his head dipped to get closer to Rich's. Just when he thought he was going to kiss him, Jake leaned in to whisper in his ear, "This."
Without warning his hands shot forward and latched onto his side and he doubled over in shocked laughter, trying to scoot his chair away from Jake. "It's Halloween, you should be having fun!"
"Jahake quit ihit!" Rich laughed and squirmed, but Jake was persistent.
"Are you gonna have fun and forget about last year?"
"Yes! Okay yehes!" Jake relented, smiling at him. "There, was that so hard?"
"Yes asshole," Rich said and flinched when Jake faked an attack.
"C'mon, let's play the Halloween songs on Just Dance and eat candy." Well, Rich couldn't say no to that. Especially to Jake.
Hi! You said requests were open so maybe something where Jeremy finds out that rich is ticklish? (Platonically)
“What was that—?!” Jeremy backed up from Rich slightly as he heard a squeal after poking his side.
The shorter guy felt blush creep onto his face from embarrassment as he turned away. “Um, nothing!” He huffed slightly and scooted away from Jeremy on the bed
Jeremy moved back closer and poked again, making another squeak come out of Rich. “Oh, you’re ticklish!” His eyes lit up as he said that, a smiling bearing on his face.
““Tickle me and you’re dead—” Rich glared at Jeremy, the threat having less of an angry affect than intended. Jeremy backed away slightly again and giggled.
“don’t worry, I won’t! I don’t want to feel your wrath—” Jeremy promised, sneaking up behind Rich and hugging him. Rich hugged back, a smile on his face.
“Good, because between you and me, you wouldn’t win.”
“Is that a challenge?” Was the last thing said before Jeremy launched an attack, deciding to take a risk.
Many things changed after the SQUIPs got shut down, and Rich felt free for the first time since freshman year. He learned to accept himself for who he was and chose to embrace the things that used to make him insecure. It took a while for him to ignore the SQUIP's evil voice echoing in his brain, but his friends helped a lot. He and Jeremy hung out regularly, both understanding one another in ways that the others just couldn't. They had their SQUIPs for a longer period of time, so their effect had a larger impact. But the biggest change was Jake. He had always looked up to him. As the looser in the background, being the cool popular guy seemed amazing. Then he became a cool popular guy, as well as Jake's best friend. At first he was afraid Jake wouldn't like him anymore once the SQUIP was gone, but Jake treated him like he always had. They still hung out and joked around, just like they used to. Rich hadn't realized he had a crush on him until the middle of their sophomore year, and even with his SQUIP in his ear telling him what to do, he couldn't bring himself to make a move. When he was in the hospital, Jake came to visit him every day. He was there even more than his parents, and was more attentive than any nurse he had. Rich woke from a nap to see Jake's concerned face hovering inches above his own. "It looked like you were having a bad dream," he explained. When he was finally released from the hospital, it was Jake who drove him home. His mom was working, and his father was too drunk to even count to five. Jake noticed when he hesitated to leave the safety of the car. "You don't have to leave you know." And so he didn't. He stayed in Jake's car talking and listening to the radio. They laughed at one of the insanely sexual stories being told by a caller who was just a little too eager to share their experience that had gone horribly wrong. "Never let me make that big of a fool of myself," Rich laughed. Jake's laughter died down and he stared at Rich, a look he couldn't quite describe plastered on his face. He rested his head in his hand and spoke, "I don't think you would. You're too smart." Rich snorted. "Yeah, because a smart guy like me would let themselves be brainwashed and burn down your house," he said, gaze shifting down. He lifted his head up when he felt a hand grasp his shoulder, and Jake looked at him with worried eyes. "Rich, you're a good person. There's no need to beat yourself up like this, you've been through enough." Rich stared at him through wide eyes, and Jake's hand slipped from his shoulder to the back of his neck, pulling him in. And ever since, they've been dating. In many ways, it wasn't that much different from being best friends. Except now Rich could kiss him, hold his hand, and do other things that friends just don't do. It was a good change, and Rich felt proud to call Jake his boyfriend. He snuggled closer to him on the couch, eyes never leaving the TV screen. They had only been a couple for a few months and were still getting this whole dating thing down, but if you asked them, they weren't half bad. They both really liked each other and cared about them. Jake ran his fingers over Rich's arm lightly, tracing gentle patterns across the skin. The burns had healed, leaving large scars up and down his arm. They didn't hurt anymore, but Jake was still being extremely careful, afraid of hurting his boyfriend. Rich wished he wouldn't be so cautious because the light touch was nearly unbearable. He hated to admit it, but he was horribly ticklish, and the sensitive scars were even more so. He really didn't want Jake to find this out, because he knew that if he did, he'd never be safe from the mirthful onslaught. So he was forced to lay there and take it, biting back repressed laughter as he tried not to move. "You okay?" Jake asked, noticing his discomfort. Rich nodded frantically, not daring to open his mouth for fear of giving himself away. Jake shrugged, "Alright." He continued tracing the patterns on the reddened skin, fingers moving ever so slowly. Rich couldn't decide what would be worse: this slow maddening sensation that was so soft yet so intense going on for the rest of the movie, or Jake just pinning him down on the couch and mercilessly tickling him all over. At least now Jake didn't realize what he was doing, and therefore wouldn't be able to tease him about it later. Rich was brought out of his thoughts when Jake's short nails gently scratched his bicep, and he quickly brought his hand to his mouth to try and muffle the giggles that were about to spill out. "I'm so sorry, did I hurt you?" Jake asked and immediately drew his hand away. "No, I'm fine, you're fine, you didn't hurt me," Rich answered reassuringly. Jake gave him a skeptical look but settled back down nonetheless. His damned hand went right back to Rich's arm, and this time he was unable to keep his laughter at bay. Rich turned his head, hiding his face in the arm of the couch. "Ihihihi Jahahahake ihihit tihihihickles," he said, not being able to take it any longer. Jake smiled adoringly, finding it all incredibly sweet. "I didn't know you were ticklish, Babe," he spoke, wiggling his fingers with more purpose. The tingly feeling fluttered over his skin, sending him into fits of endless giggles. He nuzzled into his neck, blowing a small raspberry and making him squeal. "Oh my god you're adorable!" Upon hearing this, Rich's face turned as head as the stripe in his hair. "Fahahahahack!" he cackled as Jake's hand snaked underneath his tank top and scratched at the stretch of skin just below his belly button. Jake smiled evilly, "Oo, good spot?" he questioned as he pinned his hands above his head and straddled his waist. Rich knew this would happen, so why was he just letting it? He squirmed underneath him, a large smile plastered on his face. "So Rich, where else are you ticklish?" he asked, accenting the word by wiggling his fingers above his stomach making him writhe and laugh, even though he wasn't touching him. "Aww I'm not even touching you! Are you so ticklish that I don't even have to touch you to get you to laugh?" His teasing words made it all so, so much worse. "Shuhuhut up dihihihick!" Jake smirked, "Hey, you're the one named Richard, not me." Rich let out a laugh at the joke, and that gave Jake the perfect opportunity to skitter his fingers all along his torso, driving him mad. After a few more minutes, Jake finally showed mercy. He flopped down beside him, grinning. "Well that was fun! Who knew you were so ticklish!" Rich let out a groan at that word. "What? Do you not like it when I call you ticklish?" he asked, putting extra emphasis on the word and grinning when Rich let's out a whine and hides his face. Rich knows his boyfriend is going to use this against him all the time, and he knows he'll be looking forward to it.
AN: This the the anticipated sequel to my other fic 3 Times Jeremy's Squip Was NOT Helpful Rich honestly didn't think Jake would run after him once he tweaked his side, but he wasn't complaining. He had been crushing on him for so long now, and only occasionally was Jake this playful. It seemed that every little thing he did made him fall harder for him and made him all giddy inside. He looked over his shoulder, seeing his friend chasing after him. He rounded the corner, sneakers skidding on the tile floor. His smaller frame made it easier to turn sharp corners, and he laughed to himself as he heard Jake bust his ass. "Oh you're really gonna be laughing once I get a hold of you!" Jake yelled, scrambling to his feet. Rich let out a squeak, rushing away. If he was honest, he really didn't mind the idea of Jake catching him. Being that close to Jake... his hands all over his body... Damn he really fell hard for this one. "Christine move!" Rich demanded racing past her, going as far as to grab her shoulders and shove her at Jake, who had gotten surprisingly close, to slow him down. "Oh my god I'm so sorry," Jake apologized, making sure she was okay before running after his friend. "You're gonna pay for that, Dick Giranski," he teased, knowing his friend despised when people called him "Dick." "Try faking him out. You might succeed, or he might catch you, but either way it's kind of a win win," his SQUIP advised. Oh well, what did he have to loose? "Wait, wait time out," Rich said, having to catch his breath. He rested his hands on his knees, panting. Jake chuckled, walking over, "There's no time out! Maybe if you did sports like me, you wouldn't be so tuckered out after a light jog," he said, getting closer. "Light jog my ass," Rich muttered, smirking as he dashed forward, planning on running right past Jake and to continue the playful chase. Because he didn't want the flirting- well, flirting on his part- to end. Only when he ran by Jake, the other boy reached his arm out, hooking it around the shorter one's waist. "NO DAMNIT!" he cried out, being lifted into the air. He kicked his legs and squirmed, but couldn't get out of Jake's hold. He was so strong... "This is some well earned revenge," Jake said, and Rich gave a nervous laugh, "Ihis it too late to say sorry?" "I'm afraid crappy Justin Bieber lyrics won't help you now," Jake said with a smirk and began walking his fingers up his sides. "Fuck! Nohoho!" Rich didn't bother in trying to hold back his laughter. He was too ticklish, and it would just make Jake more determined. "Aw what's the matter buddy? You can dish it out but you can't take it?" Rich but his lip, giggles spilling forth from his mouth as he tried to swat the other's hands away. "How ticklish are you, dude? I mean, I'm barely moving my fingers and you can't stop giggling," Jake observed with a smile and Rich blushed. "Sh-shut uhuhup!" he cried, feeling his face heating up. "Oh man, your face is so red! Though I can't tell if it's from the tickling or if you're just embarrassed, or a bit of both." "Ihihihi will fuhuhucking punch you!" "Well I don't want that to happen, so I'm gonna say a bit of both," Jake teased. "But just in case, let's move these out of the way, shall we?" As he said this, he took both of Rich's hands and pinned them under his knees. "Ahahahahasshole!" "That's gross," Jake laughed, moving underneath his arms. Rich let out an embarrassing squeal, pressing his arms to his sides the best he could. Why did he always have to wear tank tops? After tickling him there for a few minutes, he moved down and scribbled his fingers across Rich's stomach, which was now exposed due to his shirt riding up from all his squirming, and the thin layer of protection was gone. Rich bucked and squealed, his laughter ranging from full on belly laughs with snorts mixed in to silent hysterics. "Shihihihihit! Oh FUCK NOT THERE!" he yelled when Jake formed his hand into a claw and dug in right below his bellybutton. Rich stopped thrashing, not having any strength to fight anymore and just letting himself succumb to the feeling. It drove him insane, but at the same time, it felt good to loose control. He hadn't really been his true self ever since he got the SQUIP, but now there was no voice telling him what to do or how to act. It was gone, and he realized that he wasn't being patronized by that stupid, annoying voice. Because of this, Rich decided he could stand it for just a little while longer. If only to keep the SQUIP at bay, no other reason what so ever. Nope, not at all. Jake finally decided to show some mercy and backed off. Rich was grateful and laid there regaining his breath. "There. I have successfully avenged Jeremy. And myself, and it's about damn time I did. I can't let you go around thinking you can tickle me without any sort of payback," he said with a smirk, nudging his shoulder. "You better start running," he warned, and Jake scoffed. "Well if you can still run after all that I clearly didn't try hard enough." Rich tried to glare at him, but the goofy grin on his face negated the effect. "Hey, don't give me that look," Jake said, squeezing the other boy's stomach. Rich yelped, curling in on himself and swatting his hand away with a smile. "You're an asshole who's gonna be dead soon, you know that?" Jake shrugged, "Eh, it was worth it. You got a nice laugh, and I don't hear it much." Rich looked away, blushing at the compliment. "But I'm gonna make sure to hear it a lot more from now on. Rich tried, but he couldn't help the grin spreading across his face, "You better not." "Oh I will, and that's a promise."
