Tickling headcanons for Axl (updated!)

I know I’ve already laid out some tickling headcanons for Axl in this post, but I thought I’d expand on some more hcs I came up with for him.

Axl has always been ticklish ever since his early days in Red Alert. He found out he was ticklish when he got into a playful fight with Vanishing Gungaroo, which turned into a tickle fight (Gungaroo was the one doing most of the tickling). The sensation and the laughter from said sensation was so unfamiliar to him until Gungaroo explained to him what tickling was.

On a 1-10 scale, Axl would likely be around a 7 or 8, meaning he’s VERY ticklish. This might stem from the fact he doesn’t have much experience with being tickled, so his sensitive nerves have never adjusted to such treatment.

Axl is TOTALLY a switch. On a scale he’s 50% lee AND 50% ler.

His main weak spots are his belly, sides, and the balls of his feet. He’s not too shy about revealing this to others.

His ribs, however, are his worst weak spot (or, as some would put it, his ‘death spot’). Just scratching over them lightly will make him crack in just a few seconds. Because of how sensitive his ribs are, Axl refuses to tell anyone of how ticklish they really are.

The sides of his ribs are especially sensitive as well, so much in fact, that Axl will buck his hips whenever someone teases him around there.

Tickling the last pairs of Axl’s ribs right under his chest plate is one thing, but if the tickler removes his chest plate and goes all-out on every single one of his ribs, the gunslinger will be pushed past his limits, cackling much, MUCH louder than he normally would.

Although Axl tends to be tickle-shy (as a lee), he’ll sometimes challenge the ler to do their worst if he’s feeling confident enough.

Since Axl tends to be tactical in battle because of how he was trained, he’s also adapted this into his tickling methods in order to expose the lee’s weak spots. His fingers are rather dexterous because he uses two pistols, which makes his fingers one of the most devilish devices for tickling.

Axl knows almost EVERY tickle tease in the book. He almost always teases the lee in an effort to fluster them and heighten their sensitivity even more.

As expected from the lovable young trickster, he loves nothing more than the classic tickle chase, and it’s not uncommon for him to already be giggling as he’s chasing down the lee/being chased himself.

Although Axl is already pretty ticklish almost everywhere on his body (aside from his belly, feet, sides and ribs), the least ticklish places are his pecs and back. Tickling over them can still make him giggle, but it won’t get him to actually laugh.

Speaking of giggling, because of how sensitive Axl is, light tickles will elicit childlike, absolutely adorable giggles/snickers from him, that they can, and WILL make the ler’s heart melt!

Teasing his navel is another way to get the android to chortle.

Aside from a ler’s fingers, other tools such as feathers, brushes or buffers will send him howling, if tickled in JUUUUUST the right spot.

If he’s cornered by a ler, Axl will sometimes try to lie his way out of it, but this always fails, much to his dismay (or perhaps his excitement?).

There have been times Axl has accidentally been tickled during repairs, such as one event where one of the Lifesavers had used a polisher buffer on his artificial skin to remove some scratches. However, it was used on his belly, and while he DID try his best not to laugh, it proved to be too much for him, and he ended up spending the rest of his stay in the med ward chortling.

Aside from X and Zero, Axl has been tickled by other people before. One of those people is Palette. She never thought the gunslinger would be ticklish until she ran a couple of tests on him, and she found Axl’s reaction not just hilarious, but also cute, and she ended up going all-out on the poor android with a polisher buffer she had laying around. Needless to say, Axl’s sides were left split laughing for the next while.

Other than straight-up scribbling one’s fingers over Axl’s ribs, gently kneading or rolling their thumbs over them will make him grin widely and squeak. If the ler digs their thumbs in deep enough, though, especially into the sides of his ribs, he’ll start hollering like mad.

Tweaking the rib bones is another way of getting Axl to cachinnate, too.
