so, just a bit of a tack question, horsblr: i rode this dun aqh who “absolutely had to have a tie-down” (not my words) when you rode him. he was a sweet boy for the most part, an ex-roper but was pretty much retired after he blew up in the box one time
now, i just rode him in the pasture and arena and only did a play day thing with him once, but eventually i asked if i could try him without the tie-down and he was a complete giraffe the whole time, and it seemed, with or without the tie-down his lope was so choppy.
my question is, is he bracing against the tie-down so much that without it he feels like he has to put his head wayyyyyyy up in the air? can a horse like that be conditioned to ride without it with bending and stretching excercises? i feel as though it’s done a number on him, physically
