I remember, vaguely, the first time I made a tie blanket. It was new, oddly relaxing, and one of my favorite blankets (right behind my great grandmothers feet pocket blanket). Life has happened and it is no longer with me, but I am going to bring it on back! And during a holiday season with shipping problems, why not make your own gifts?
Need: 2 pieces of fleece (1-11/4 yards), Scissors, Ruler, Safe Cutting Surface
Lay two pieces of fleece wrong side together
Trim to make the same size
Cut a square out of the corner (3-4 inches) ALL CORNERS
Cut slits, like fringe, 3 inches deep (big enough to tie)
Tie fringe into Double Knots all the way around
Notes: I would get the top with a pattern, the bottom with a color. I would get 1 3/4-2 yards for adults, and 1-11/2 yards for kids. If you do a 4 inch square in the corner, do 4 inch fringes. If you do a 3 inch square in the corner, do 3 inch fringes.
This came out wonderfully! Despite the fact that I went to Fashion College, me and sewing machines are not that friendly! So I love this for adding some warmth, love, and personal touches to your blanket gifts this holiday season! (It got cat approval).
