'A Day In The Life Of' Reviews
This is a post for everyone to put their reviews of the music show 'A Day In The Life Of'.
http://news.sky.com/story/1259227/theatre-goers-in-shock-over-gore-at-the-globe When I was exploring the world of theatre I recently discovered that the Globe theatre is presenting Shakespeare's Ttitus Andronicus". It is full of tongue cutting, throat slitting, limb amputating gore. It is so gruesome that nine members if the audience within the first week have fainted. The director Lucy Bailey has really brought this vivid play to life, and she is proud that members of the audience are fainting. I find what she said inspirational and what has as actors should pride upon. "It can get to a point where an actor will come on and say 'I will chop off your hand' and on the word 'chop' you can almost guarantee that someone is going to faint. That I find fantastic, because it is the power of listening. It is not about the blood, it is that they are so involved in the story that it will just overwhelm them at that moment." "It is the power of listening", that is what the audience should be able to do. Be invited to listen and take in what the actors are performing to them. The video link I have out up will show you how powerful this performance is. What do you think?
Directors Notes: Run To Lucy
Beginning Moving, really nice writing, it moved me. I think you can stylise the opening by not speaking, it might be more effective if you can synchronised it. This is the start of the end. I think you can use the Matt more effectively, you don’t have to keep bringing it back and forward. The Matt can make it a more vocal piece. The Job Blake you would either wait for her to lead you off, or go off the same side. Minor thing Instead of the smoking you can be rolling one and change the subject. Don’t mine your writing Maybe taking something off to show an ending The transitions need to be smoother I felt moved at your physical presents, but you started to speak and you put emotions into it. Take out the emotion, it will be more moving for the audience. It may be nicer if you cam on with the red cloth, as if it’s a baby. It will look better, it will look less mechanical The ending needs to be a moment for everyone. You can end it in a way where your walking off. You were commitment, well structured. There wasn’t many dynamics
Crimson Field
I had the chance to watch the first episode of Crimson Field. I loved the first episode as there was so much historical context inside of it. I also felt that it contained so much emotion and mystery. The acting was simply brilliant, all the characters had individual personalities and felt that you wanted to find out more about each character. What had happened to them up to this point, and what made them the person they are. The character that stood out to me was Prentice, he hardly talked throughout the whole episode but the actor who played him represented him beautifully. He made me feel so sorry for the character and plead for his return home. I don't want to give too much away because I feel that is something that every one should watch, it's something that the women can gain information from and also the men. If you get a chance to watch it tell me what you think Notes I Took Burning limbs A rubber sheet would go on a bed so the mattress could be used again and again, it would stop any bodily fluids going on the mattress Reuse of bandages Sisters where given their own quarters whereas volunteers were made to share The cries of pain sounded so real How desperate these men were, how they needed closure in some way In some way all the nurses cared, some more than others, but they weren't allowed to show it. The soldier who had shell shock stood out for me - Prentice - are you a coward? - are you a homosexual? - you must be a solider then Quotes "Do you think the enemy are sending men home because they are tired? We must have men at the front or we will lose" "You always tell the families that the died peacefully and without pain no matter what", "You never speak of a dying mans last word no matter what they confess to you" Amy look at the character Catherine Chris look at the character Prentice BBC Website for Crimson Field http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01tlxzb Creating the set http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01wtp9k
Two Questions
Hi I just wanted to ask the directors if the shuttle busses are running? And is the box office open?
