I think they probably lied for the reason they do everything on social media, which is for engagement and money. In addition to the 1 million birth posts, they almost certainly got an big engagement bump from people realizing they'd lied and the baby had already been out for about a month, from both fans and critics.

So honestly not a bad move from a marketing standpoint, but oh my god I don't know if they could've been more annoying about this new baby if they tried 😵‍💫 they certainly are leaning in to the fact that all most people want to see from them is baby shit.
