Happy Belated Valentines Day!!! Not the art I had planned but I did wanna practice drawing some smooching so… why not? 🥰 just Finley being smooched by his favorite people.
I promise you guys will eventually get something fully rendered from me… one day 😭
Happy birthday, Aween!! I hope today treats you well and brings you lots of cake and gifts from those who care about you. Something special is coming later from me obviously. 😏
But, since it’s such a special day, I had a question… how does Finely and his twin brother Philip celebrates their birthday? 🥺🎂
Hey Sigyn!!!! Thank you so much for the birthday wishes and the super amazing art earlier. I am more than happy to answer this ask.
TW: Believe it or not, this ask’s answer depicts some heavy topics. If you’re sensitive to dark themes, proceed with caution ❤️
“Um… Fuck, I don’t know what day I was born on. I think it had to be wintertime… I remember it bein’ really cold when I was little….”
Because of their upbringing in a cult, these two just didn’t have the luxury of knowing something as simple as their date of birth. Actually, it was more or less a method of dehumanizing them. Finley had less rights by default and didn’t know how to read or write, so it wasn’t like he could hunt for the answers himself. Not like that was a priority to him anyway when he had worse things on his plate.
Philip was more of a sleuth. He had rummaged through Paul’s office in an effort to find out more about their mother the night he escaped (a year after Finley already had) He didn’t just discover their birthday, actually a whole lot more important things in there, but he did remember it. Philip was desperate to find Finley and tell him what he knew. Sadly, the two never see each other again for forty years, so Finley goes a very large portion of his life not knowing such a simple piece of information about himself.
Finley and Philip were canonically born July 24th 1967
Philip does not celebrate, rather, he takes the day to always reflect and think of all the hardships he’s been through. Truth be told? Philip doesn’t believe he deserves to be alive. He is well aware of the burden his existence caused his mother and that he was brought into the world against her will. He knows Beth loved him anyway and wanted what was best for him, but he can’t get rid of the constant sickness and guilt.
No matter how warm the day is, he’ll wear a jacket, and sit out in the woods. Just to observe nature while thinking of his mother and lost sibling. Sometimes he partakes in the ritual of killing people he thinks have it coming, but most of the day he’s too depressed to even move.
Finley on the other hand…
“Doll, you’re a gift to the world. One of the only good fuckin’ things it has. We’re gonna celebrate that you’re alive whether ya like it or not. Now, c’mere and pick out what cake ya want.”
“We love you, sweet face. This is your day, let’s enjoy it.”
With such a shitty and traumatic upbringing, his partners thought it was very important that Finley knew his life mattered. Which, granted, felt ironic considering they’re literally serial killers. But if people as ruthless as them could find someone that was worthy of being spared, that had to count for something, right?
So, they planned a day that would serve as a placeholder for his birthday since they didn’t really know it.
February 26th
The day Chucky found him. His ‘gotcha’ day. Finley went with it, no matter how awkward it felt to be sang to having two people ogling over him and shoving cake on his plate. But then he just cried, realizing just how much these people loved him. How much he, in turn, loved them too.
His favorite birthday cake is Strawberry Shortcake. Every year they spend with him, they add a new candle to the cake. Finley enjoys his day, and hopes that Beth would be happy for him.
