Arcade feature #1: Beatrix Potter
Precisely drawn flowers populate Beatrix's prettiest and best-known books: from geraniums in The Tale of Peter Rabbit (1902) and carnations in The Tale of Benjamin Bunny (1904), to water lilies in The Tale of Mr. Jeremy Fisher (1906) and foxgloves in The Tale of Jemima Puddle-duck (1908). An abundance of lilies, pansies, roses and snapdragons feature in The Tale of Tom Kitten (1907) inspired by Beatrix's own garden at Hill Top. For Duchess's home in The Pie and the Patty-pan (1905) Beatrix chose the doorway of the old Post Office at Sawrey surrounded by tiger lilies. The finished artwork entitled The Veal and Ham Pie is similar but drawn from a viewpoint closer to the door.
