In an attempt to get as much credit as she could muster for her college applications, Harry had joined the peer to peer tutoring programme at Midtown High. So a couple days a week, Harry made her way to the science classrooms after classes were out to help out. “I’m sorry I’m late.” Harry rushed into the classroom, where her new ‘buddy’ was waiting. “I had track and field practice and the coach wouldn’t let us go until he’d finished chewing out Heidi for having the wrong shoes.”

     “i’m personally a little worried.” always blunt, mj’s side eyeing the other while letting her arm loop between theirs. “god people are weird. . .” more than she was used to seeing. “if they come our way we cross the street.”

“i know. trust me, i know.” a sigh as his hand drags through his hair. he can feel the frustration bubbling under his skin; peter usually doesn’t give it much thought, can’t, unless he wants to be swallowed by everything he’s pushed down. his fingers furl and unfurl, nails cutting into the palm of his hands with growing pressure. breathe, parker, breathe. eyes slide shut, focusing on pushing down that bubbling anger, until he shoulders relax. that familiar sunny grin shines through as he breathes out. “but we’ve got this. we can solve this.” we have to solve this.

      “did we- did we what? nah, no. we just got...” a squint, throat still burning from the shot they’d both taken. “liquid grief?” to be FAIR neither of them even knew the person but were both dragged along anyway. “yeah. totally.”
