❝ Lonely? I don’t know. ❞
Loneliness, Terra had learnt, was like pain. He didn’t realize how lonely he’d felt until he found himself embracing Aqua and Ventus again in that cursed Graveyard, how excruciating it had been to be broken until he’d been whole again. A soul, a heart and a body at last together. But he didn’t tell Vanitas that. He simply smiled, the gesture small and partly worried, but nevertheless kind.
“You and I were both trapped by the same madman for years. That is not company.”
Because while Terra’s soul spent years being rage and hate towards the old master and the boy now in front of him, his heart had been fighting the former and he’d come to understand just how manipulative he could be. Terra couldn’t trust Vanitas, not until he knew him better, he wouldn’t repeat all mistakes and endanger his friends. But he still wanted to help him. Vanitas hadn’t chosen to remain behind when Ventus had been brought to Land of Departure, or so Terra guessed.
“I won’t tell you everything will be alright immediately. I won’t tell you there won’t be eyes on you. But do you really not want to try something different? You too deserve some peace, Vanitas.”
