norwegian word of the day
å være tilfreds
v. to be pleased/satisfied
“Jeg er meget tilfreds.” “I’m very pleased.”
“Hun er ikke helt tilfreds ennå.” “She isn’t fully satisfied yet.”
“Er du tilfreds med det nye hjemmet ditt?” “Are you satisfied with your new home?”
“Tross alt som har hendt, er jeg faktisk tilfreds med livet akkurat nå.” “Despite everything that has happened, I am actually pleased with life right now.”
note: directly translated, “tilfreds” would be something like “to-peace.GEN”. It’s one of the few places in the Norwegian language where we can still see traces after the lost genitive case. Similar constructions are “til fjells” (to the mountain), “til sjøs” (to the sea) and “til havs” (to the ocean).
tilfredsstillende - satisfying
“Det er så tilfredsstillende når ting går bra.” “It’s so satisfying when things go well.”
